‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Dating In Real Life? He Refers To Her As His ‘Wifey’ On Twitter

Is Sam Heughan finally dating Caitriona Balfe?

The Outlander star just referred to Balfe as his “wifey” on social media, sparking more rumors about a real-life romance.

iTech Post reports Heughan took to Twitter this past week and congratulated his co-star on winning Entertainment Weekly’s Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series award.

“Congrats to the wifey and thanks to the strong fan vote!!!x,” Heughan wrote.

Heughan didn’t stop there.

Later, he thanked fans for providing the cast some cupcakes on set.

“Yay!!! They found us! Thank you @OutlandishBaker YUUUUUUUM!!!! Need that sugar! Might save @caitrionambalfe one..” Sweet isn’t it?” he shared on Twitter.

Are Heughan’s posts an indication that he and Balfe are now romantically involved?

Heughan and Balfe, who play Jamie and Claire on the hit show, have faced similar rumors in the past.

After Season 1 of Outlander, the stars addressed the rumors and revealed that they are only friends in real life. Apparently, nothing has ever happened between the stars outside of their work on Outlander.

“We’re not together. We’ve always said from the get-go that we’re incredibly great friends,” Heughan said. “And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it’s great that we’re able to get along that well.”

Heughan continued, “I’m sorry to break people’s hearts. They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story. But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together.”

Despite the comments, fans haven’t let go of the idea of Heughan and Balfe sparking a romance off-set. Who wouldn’t want to see the Outlander star together?

To make things more complicated, an inside source claims to have seen Heughan and Balfe acting like a couple in-between scenes.

“Sam and Caitriona were taking a short break between scenes when I saw them off to the side, holding hands and Sam was even whispering in her ear,” the insider revealed. “She was laughing at whatever he said and well, they looked like an ordinary couple.”

Heughan and Balfe are currently working on Season 3 of Outlander.

According to Game N Guide, Heughan and Balfe are keeping their relationship a secret to avoid unnecessary media attention and are very much in love.

Apparently, the Outlander stars have been spotted hanging out with each other on several occasions, which only led to more rumors about a growing romance.

It would not be a huge surprise if Heughan and Balfe started dating.

According to Parent Herald, their on-screen chemistry is what first sparked rumors of a romance.

Indeed, fans watched the two stars fall in love with each other on Outlander, and now they want to see it happen in real life. After all, the bond the actors share on-screen isn’t something that happens on every show.

Of course, if they are dating, then Heughan and Balfe have done a great job keeping their relationship a secret.

Furthermore, their previous comments on the matter make it less likely that a romance is brewing outside of the show.

That being said, their intense friendship could always lead to something else, and fans can only hope that happens between the stars.

Until more information is released, it’s too difficult to tell what is happening behind the scenes.

Hopefully, Heughan and Balfe will address the rumors once again and either put them to rest or confirm that they are dating.

In the meantime, fans can expect to see Heughan and Balfe together again when the new season of Outlander premieres on Starz sometime in 2017.
