Selena Gomez Continues With Career Hiatus As Taylor Swift Steps Up In Support

It’s been nearly a month since Selena Gomez announced that she was canceling her Revival World Tour due to her struggles with lupus and still, there’s been no sign of her anywhere.

As Selena Gomez remains in hiding and stays silent on social media, she’s said to be in contact with only her closest friends, including her longtime friend Taylor Swift.

“[Selena Gomez] is keeping life very simple and slow while she recovers and recharges from life,” a source explained to Hollywood Life. “She has been staying in contact with a few of only her closest friends, including Taylor, who has been constantly giving Selena words of encouragement via text.”

Although Swift is going through her own personal struggles after splitting from boyfriend Tom Hiddleston after just three months of dating, she’s sticking by Selena Gomez and offering her as much support as possible. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez continues to focus on her health and her future.

“[Selena Gomez]’s health and privacy is her top priority right now so she has been careful about sharing her whereabouts with anyone,” the source revealed.

Selena Gomez’s announcement that her tour would be canceled was shared with fans on August 20.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez told People Magazine in a statement. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues,” she continued.

At the same time, a source spoke to the magazine on Selena Gomez’s behalf, insisting that despite the ongoing rumors of possible drug use and rehab, the singer’s career break is “absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse.” Instead, the source noted, Selena Gomez simply hadn’t been feeling like herself for the past couple of months and wanted to prioritize her future happiness.

The source went on to reveal that Selena Gomez feels relieved now that her tour has officially been called off and looks forward to making sense of why she was feeling the way she was.

As for when Selena Gomez may return to her career and possibly continue the remaining dates of her Revival World Tour, there has not yet been any specific timeframe revealed, and one recent report suggests the singer may be planning to walk away from her singing career for good.

On September 19, the Morning News USA shared a report regarding the possibility of Selena Gomez giving up on her career and “retiring soon.” According to the report, Selena Gomez may want to focus on her health as she walks away from her music career — and her recent drama with ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, which recently played out in front of fans on social media.
