‘WWE Monday Night Raw’ Results: The Card For ‘Clash Of Champions 2016’ Is Set — Three Matches Added

WWE Clash of Champions 2016

On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte was forced to team up with Dana Brooke to take on No. 1 contender Sasha Banks and recent NXT call-up Bayley in tag team action. Apparently, both Sasha Banks and Bayley had their shoulders on the mat when the referee counted during last week’s Triple Threat Match with Dana. This week, on top of her tag team match, Charlotte found out from Mick Foley that her title defense at WWE Clash of Champions 2016 will be against both Sasha Banks and Bayley.

The top male competitors on Raw are dealing with just as much drama of their own. In last week’s main event, Roman Reigns faced WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens in hopes of earning a shot at the Prizefighter’s title on Sunday. However, thanks to interference from both Seth Rollins and WWE United States Champion Rusev, Kevin Owens was able to defeat Reigns, keeping his title match at Clash of Champions a one-on-one encounter with Rollins. This week, as The Architect was forced to square-off against the Bulgarian Brute, while Roman Reigns had a non-title bout with Kevin Owens inside a steel cage.

And finally, after weeks of hype and anticipation, the Cruiserweight Division was unleashed upon the Monday Night Raw roster. T.J. Perkins is the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and he’s being followed to the red brand by at least six fellow competitors from the WWE Cruiserweight Classic tournament. This week, Gran Metalik, Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann and Brian Kendrick fought for a chance to face Perkins at WWE Clash of Champions on Sunday.

WWE Monday Night Raw Results

The following includes the results of all the matches and segments from WWE Raw on September 19, which airs live from the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. Raw has won the “ratings war” ever since the separate rosters were established, although SmackDown Live continues to keep the competition close. With WWE Clash of Champions 2016 just around the corner, will the viewership for tonight’s Raw see a substantial increase?

Raw Pre-Show on the WWE Network

Scott Stanford hosted the Raw Pre-Show and was joined in the studio by Lita and Booker T. Jerry “The King” Lawler was already backstage at WWE Raw in Memphis, ready to make an appearance in his hometown. New WWE Cruiserweight Champion T.J. Perkins joined the Raw Pre-Show via Skype. All three of the panelists were very impressed with the new member of the Raw roster.

A backstage segment aired with Dana Brooke and Charlotte discussing their tag team match against Bayley and Sasha Banks. They also discussed the fact that both Bayley and Sasha’s shoulders were on the mat when the three-count was made in last week’s Triple Threat Match. Along with interviewing Chris Jericho about his problems with Mick Foley, Lawler let the WWE Universe know that Roman Reigns would be opening tonight’s WWE Monday Night Raw.

Roman Reigns Got Booked For Two Matches

Roman Reigns barely got two words out before he was interrupted by Stephanie McMahon. However, she was interrupted by Mick Foley before she even got to the ring. After the three talked things out, they announced that Reigns would receive a shot at the WWE United States Championship at Clash of Champions against Rusev. And in the main of event of Raw, he would get a chance to face WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens in a Steel Cage Match.

WWE Clash of Champions: Rusev vs. Roman Reigns

Seth Rollins vs. Rusev Ended In A Double Count-Out

The night’s opening match ended as both men fought their way up the entrance ramp, paying no attention to referee’s ten-count. In the end, Rollins left with the upper hand, having nailed Rusev after jumping off of the announcer’s table.

Backstage Segments

As Mick Foley talked things over with Charlotte and Dana Brooke, he decided that the WWE Women’s Championship Match at Clash of Champions should be a Triple Threat Match, with Sasha Banks and Bayley both given a chance to take home the gold. In a different segment, Chris Jericho was talking with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. After complaining about General Manager Mick Foley, Y2J said he was going to make a list of everything Foley has done wrong and bring it to the GM.

Braun Strowman Defeated Sin Cara

The former member of The Wyatt Family has officially moved on from destroying local enhancement talent to destroying the WWE Superstars who rarely get a win outside of WWE Main Event or WWE Superstars. He made fairly quick work of Sin Cara.

Charlotte & Dana Brooke Defeated Sasha Banks & Bayley

Although the tag team of Sasha Banks and Bayley never really broke down during this match, the bond between the WWE Women’s Champion and her protégé proved to be stronger on this occasion. As Brooke kept Banks busy outside the ring, Charlotte finished off Bayley with a big boot.

Stephanie McMahon Called Out Seth Rollins

After Seth Rollins confronted the Raw Commissioner about siding with Kevin Owens, Stephanie reiterated that she had no idea that Triple H had switched his allegiance. By the end of the conversation, however, McMahon said that she believed Owens had taken Rollins’ place as the leader of Monday Night Raw.

Bo Dallas Defeated Gary Graham

Bo Dallas gave another cryptic promo before his match in which he claimed to be the only one who could “Bo-lieve in Bo Dallas.” It will be interesting to see if his winning streak continues once he has a legitimate opponent.

Cesaro Defeated Sheamus

Tying up their series at 3-3, Cesaro defeated Sheamus with his patented Gotch Neutralizer finisher. Immediately following the match, Foley was shown on the phone backstage, making Cesaro vs. Sheamus official for Clash of Champions. Foley was then confronted by Chris Jericho, who began reading his list of complaints about the GM, which Mick promptly ignored.

The Good Guys Won A Ten-Man Tag Team Match

As Chris Jericho was addressing the WWE Universe in Memphis about his list of complaints, he was interrupted by Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady. The interruptions continued from The Shining Stars, The New Day, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and Sami Zayn. In the end, Amore pinned one half of the Shining Stars after Big Cass assisted with the Bada Boom Shakalaka.

Brian Kendrick Won Cruiserweight Fatal 4-Way — T.J. Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick Set For Clash Of Champions

Mick Foley introduced the WWE Universe to Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander, Gran Metalik and The Brian Kendrick. He then announced that T.J. Perkins would be required to defend his WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Clash of Champions. He booked a Fatal 4-Way Match featuring the men in the ring, which had as many big spots as expected. The veteran Kendrick got the win and will be a part of the first official cruiserweight match on a WWE PPV since 2007.

Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox Announced For Clash Of Champions Kick-Off Show

WWE continues to build the women’s division on the Raw brand by having feuds that exist outside of the title scene. Nia Jax destroyed Alicia Fox in their most recent encounter. Foxy gets her shot at revenge this Sunday.

Roman Reigns Defeated Kevin Owens — Seth Rollins Saved Roman Reigns

Even if only by a split-second, Roman Reigns managed to touch his feet to the floor before Kevin Owens, as Reigns went over the top and Owens tried to sneak out the door. Even so, his post-match celebration didn’t last long. U.S. champ Rusev came to the ring and beat Roman down. He then locked Roman inside the cage with himself and Kevin Owens, and the two heel champions proceeded to dominate Reigns. However, Seth Rollins decided to intervene, climbing the cage and diving from the top to take out both heels. Monday Night Raw ended with the momentum clearly in favor of Seth Rollins.
