Ashlee Holmes Not Happy With ‘RHONJ’ Proposal: ‘I Was A Little Upset’

Ashlee Holmes got engaged on last night’s episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and she was thrilled that her boyfriend, Pete Malleo, got down on one knee to propose marriage. The scene had been cut down quite a bit, and it had been edited to only include the proposal. On the show, Pete is seen telling Ashlee that he loves her and then quickly getting down on one knee. Holmes was surprised, but she accepted the proposal. On the show, it looked rather sudden, but Holmes decided to open up on Instagram about the romantic gesture that was cut out.

According to a new Instagram post, Ashlee Holmes is now revealing that Bravo decided to cut out a very romantic gesture that Pete decided to do prior to getting down on one knee. As it turns out, the whole proposal had been filmed by Bravo, but they decided to cut out a special scene because they were concerned about the city of Hoboken.

In her Instagram post, Ashlee Holmes explains that she and Pete were walking about Hoboken before dinner. They were talking about apartments and even went to scope one out that they had been looking at. They decided to walk out to this pier, which had locks on it. The locks were placed there by couples as a romantic gesture. Pete pulled out a lock and had Ashlee Holmes write the date on there. After they placed the lock on there, he got down on one knee.

“As we approached the end of it I remember thinking how cute all of the locks were on it. I said to Pete that we should get one and come back one day. He said it was funny I said that because he had actually brought one with him. It was then that he pulled a lock out of his pocket! He wrote our names on it and then asked me if I wanted to write the date. While doing that he was saying very sweet things. I could tell he was nervous but I thought he was just uncomfortable filming maybe? Especially because it was an intimate moment,” Ashlee Holmes revealed on Instagram after The Real Housewives of New Jersey aired on Bravo last night.

“We locked the lock on the gate together. And then all of the sudden that’s when he told me he loved me and asked me to marry him. Unfortunately the entire scene with the lock had to be cut because Hoboken has a new rule that frowns upon people placing locks on that pier,” Holmes revealed in her post.

Ashley went on to explain that the city of Hoboken was not pleased with the locks being placed on the pier. This was done as a romantic gesture, possibly to replicate the lock bridge in Paris that has hundreds of locks on it placed by people in love over the past many years. Even though Bravo didn’t want to air them placing the locks on the pier for the sake of not getting in trouble with the city, Ashlee Holmes can at least remember the proposal as it was. Since then, Pete and Holmes have added a little son to their home.

In addition to the proposal, Holmes wasn’t a big part of this episode. Her mother’s co-stars, however, were a big part of the show, as they bickered about their relationship with Teresa Giudice. While Ashlee didn’t want to comment on the drama, she clearly took her stance.

“I’m not going to comment on the drama. All I’ll say is Kathy Wakile & Rosie Pierri are two of the most genuinely sweet people I know #RHONJ,” Ashlee Holmes added on Twitter, saying that she doesn’t want to get involved with her family’s drama on the show.
