Amy Schumer got ready for the 68th Annual Emmy Awards the best way she knows how – with some eye patches and menstrual products.
Prior to stepping on the Emmys red carpet, Amy Schumer took to Instagram to share with her fans how she’s really prepping for tonight’s look. In the post below, Schumer is seen wearing patches underneath her eyes and around her lips. She also appears redder than usual. Schumer jokingly stated that the patches make her look like the Great Owl from Secrets of the Nimh, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Schumer also revealed the time that she wasn’t feeling so great when she found out she was nominated for six Emmy awards, reports Entertainment Tonight. Just hours before the show, the 35-year-old comedian shared a video reaction to her nominations.
“The day I found out I was nominated for six Emmys,” she wrote. “I was so sick. And now they are tonight! #balmain.”
Prior to sharing the throwback video, Schumer also revealed on Instagram that she’s been hospitalized for food poisoning after her recent trip to Paris, France.
According to the report, Schumer is nominated for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her show Inside Amy Schumer. She is also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. After the nominations were announced back in July, Schumer shared on Twitter that she wasn’t so sure that her show would be winning an Emmy award this year.
“Thank you! We have a really good shot at beating [Beyonce’s] Lemonade, right?” she asked. “Hello?”
Schumer has since made her grand entrance to the Emmys red carpet at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 16. In classic Amy Schumer style, she was bleeped out during an awkward interview with E!’s Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet, reports Us Weekly. Schumer made a joke that censors cut out.
“‘Let me not expose my [inaudible],’ the Trainwreck star said.” Many fans on social media assumed that Schumer was referring to her vagina.
The Fashion Police host responded with a nervous laugh and then Schumer jokingly clarified, “My clique, my friends!”
Schumer then explained to Rancic that she was excited to be at the awards show. The TV host asked her about her experience at the 2016 Met Gala back in May after the comedian slammed the event and described it as “punishment.”
“It’s like the hottest, fiercest people and they’re all like posing and I’m just kind of like a gym teacher … I’m a softball coach. But, you know, and you try to do your best and you’re like, ‘I’m trash from Long Island and everyone can see that very clearly.”
Then, Rancic changed the subject and asked where Schumer keeps her awards at home. The comedian did not seem happy with the question.
“You’re really asking that question?” she shot back.
After an awkward pause, Schumer decided to answer. “OK, they’re in my laundry room. Here’s why: I’m friends with all comedians and they keep you really humble and nobody wants to walk in and see your trophies,” she said. “They would throw them in the trash. Yeah, they’re a mean group. You’ve gotta keep yourself humble, but we’re very honored to be here. I don’t want to downplay that. It’s really satisfying to be nominated and be recognized.”
And just when you thought Schumer’s interview couldn’t get any more awkward, she decided to give a candid response to Rancic’s question about her red carpet look, reported Entertainment Weekly.
“Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford shoes and an O.B. tampon!” she said before she left. “Ooh, ooh, hello, hello!” she added. “I’m available for hosting gigs!”
