‘Assassin’s Creed III’ Season Pass Will Feature Evil King George Washington DLC

Today’s news from Ubisoft is sure to please fans of Assassin’s Creed III and shock history buffs. The company announced a season pass for the game with five downloadable expansions for only $30, including one content pack that presents a stunning alternate version of the American Revolution. The first DLC, entitled TheTyranny of King George, features an evil George Washington, who crowns himself the new king of the thirteen colonies.

Ubisoft, the game’s publisher, described TheTyranny of King George as follows:

“As the revolution comes to a close, a new and most unexpected enemy emerges. Driven by the desire to secure the fate of the colonies, the greatest hero of the revolution, George Washington, succumbs to the temptation of infinite power. The new King is born and his reign leaves no one untouched. To return freedom to the land our new hero must dethrone a tyrant he once called friend.”

Assassin’s Creed III executive producer Sebastion Puel explained his motivation for creating the unusual depiction of the first President of the United States:

“History is our playground – and AC teams have always loved playing with historical facts and their consequences as a way to better understand a time period. While Assassin’s Creed III concentrates on history as it happens, we wanted to take some liberties with this DLC and tell you how things ‘could have happened.”

The expansion, which is non-canonical, pits the game’s hero, Conner Kenway, against the man he once considered a father figure. The half European, half Native American assassin served loyally under General Washington and the conflict between the two powerful adversaries is sure to have gamers on the edge of their seats.

Assassin’s Creed III debuts in North America on October 30, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game will be released for Wii U on November 18 and for PC on November 20, 2012.

All the season pass content will be available within 6 months of the release of the game and pass owners will be able to access the DLC a week earlier than customers who purchase individual expansion packs. The three episodes featuring George Washington are single player only, but Ubisoft promised to offer additional DLC with multi-player maps and characters.
