Zayn Malik Shown Love By M.I.A. After Vague Initial Comments

When Zayn Malik and M.I.A. released their collaboration, “Freedun,” many fans thought it was a dream come true.

However, when M.I.A. was quoted about working with Zayn Malik on “Freedun,” she stated the following to BBC Radio‘s Annie Mac, according to Billboard.

“[The collaboration with Zayn Malik] just kind of happened. It sort of takes me out my comfort zone but kind of takes him out of his a little bit as well. It just worked out.”

Obviously, there was some explanation needed about M.I.A.’s feelings about Zayn Malik because this comment was somewhat vague.

Thankfully, M.I.A. clarified how she felt soon after her initial comments about Zayn Malik around mid-September with Daily Star. According to UnReality TV, M.I.A. said she had a great deal of respect for Zayn Malik because he gave up the stress of boy band life to go solo.

Interestingly, as previously reported by The Inquisitr, the number of similarities between M.I.A. and Zayn Malik were discussed, and she addressed some of these aspects in her most recent interview. For example, M.I.A. talked about Zayn Malik in relationship to a punk ethic of standing up for what you believe in.

In addition, M.I.A. also said she respected Zayn Malik because he is standing up for what he believes in despite the intense pressure that goes behind being both a minority celebrity and also having a public opinion on Twitter about certain types of politics (such as being pro-Palestinian).

M.I.A. and Helly Luv are part of the new refugee music trend.

In the meantime, working with M.I.A. is likely only one facet of Zayn Malik’s coming “empire.” According to Forbes, Zayn Malik already has a television show in the works, an autobiography, and new music on the horizon.

It was also predicted that Zayn Malik has other career angles that he has not yet revealed.

Regardless, there were a few things left off of this list. For example, Zayn Malik will be working with Giuseppe Zanotti on a line of designer shoes.

This is a great choice for Zayn Malik because celebrities tend to make a lot of money when they sell clothing. Paper Mag adds to this by ranking the top 13 celebrity fashion lines, and it was noted that Ashlee Simpson’s clothing company nets her $1 billion per year.

When Zayn Malik wrote Mind of Mine, he had Frank Ocean’s producer, Malay, work with him on the album. Interestingly, musician Frank Ocean is now the celebrity face of the new fall Calvin Klein fashion line, according to Adweek.

From watching other celebrities, Zayn Malik could follow in their footsteps with investments such as opening a sports management agency. So far, this is a venture that has been taken on by fellow One Direction member Niall Horan with his Modest Golf Management business. Lil Wayne also has a company called Cash Money Sports.

Other popular celebrity investments have been apps. For example, James Franco made one called Rando Franco to promote himself, according to People. Lil Wayne also came out with the skateboarding game app called Sqvad Up.

Finally, celebrities tend to turn a profit when they sell a perfume. Little Mix and Cheryl have had huge success with their pharmacy-priced fragrances such as “Gold Magic” and “Storm Flower.”

If Zayn Malik does decide to release a fragrance, he will have to beat Justin Bieber’s record.

Justin Bieber’s “Someday” fragrance for women broke records in 2011, and Pop Sugar says the perfume “grossed more than $3 million in sales at Macy’s in just under three weeks, which is prompting industry experts to call it the “most successful celebrity scent launch ever.”

If all else, fails, Jezebel highly recommends that a celebrity like Zayn Malik should get into the celebrity product promotion game on Instagram. According to their January report, stars like Zayn Malik can get up to $20,000 for product placement in a selfie on Instagram.
