The Vampire Diaries co-stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder were once in a very happy relationship. Their off-screen romance directly affected the show's rating and increased the fan following.
When Dobrev and Somerhalder parted ways, many believed that it would be hard for them to portray their roles of Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore respectively. In the show, it was shown how Dobrev's character was in love with Somerhalder's character. But after the breakup, things did went a little crazy for a while, but the stars handled it professionally.
When Dobrev was still a part of TVD, she had a romantic scene with Somerhalder. Many can understand that after the breakup, it becomes extremely hard to get into the character's skin and make out in front of the camera.
During his earlier conversation at San Diego Comic-Con, Somerhalder stated that fans cannot expect that TVD's character will remain happy for a long time and how he and his co-stars handle their personal lives.
"But it is cute to see them and their interactions together. I think anyone -- whether it be Nina or Paul or myself -- anyone will tell you it's typically going to be a lot more fun to play the bad guy, the bad boy, the bad girl because they're more dynamic, they're more fun. But it is cute to see Damon and Elena and their interaction. Damon is just smitten, he's in love and it's cute, you know?"Meanwhile, it was also reported that Nina Dobrev's mother gave her sex-scene filming tips while she was still in the show. During her appearance on Conan's show, Dobrev talked about filming show's steamy sex scenes between her character and her various love interests.
"The awkwardness and the weirdness is when my mom comes to set and I have to do a sex scene," she said. "But what's even weirder, when I come off set, she starts giving me notes…like, arch your back more, it'll look sexier if you arch your back."
Well, the fans of TVD are still waiting to see Nina Dobrev back as Elena in the show.
The recent reports from various reliable sources confirm that Nina Dobrev is indeed returning to The Vampire Diaries.
Show's executive producer Julie Plec has high hopes for the Bulgarian beauty to come back. During the recently held San Diego Comic-Con, when it was asked to Plec about Dobrev's possible return in the show, the 40-year-old producer stated that she still has high hopes that xXx actress will indeed reprise her role.
"Not to put too much pressure on anything Nina Dobrev, but a promise was made. An emotional promise that I'd like to see come to life."Having said that, a recent report also suggests that if Dobrev will reprise her role, then Somerhalder will not be pleased.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Somerhalder does not wish to see her back in the show, as it will jeopardize his married life. Also, The CW would be reducing his salary to give payment to her.Apart from all the speculation, E! News revealed that The CW's executive producer Mark Pedowitz confirmed that the network is in talks to bring her back.
"We collectively came to the same place," Pedowitz added. "We backed Julie [Plec] in her decision … there are discussions going on with Nina, we'd love to have her back…These are discussions that go on, hopefully, she'll be back, but should it not work out, Julie has planned out a great series finale for fans."
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will air on at Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. on The CW. It is unknown whether Nina Dobrev will reprise the role of Elena Gilbert in it or not and will fans get to see her making out with Ian Somerhalder.
