‘Days Of Our Lives’: Will Carrie And Austin Return To ‘DOOL’? [Spoilers]

Days Of Our Lives fans are seeing a lot of casting changes on the long-running soap opera. Many faces are leaving, but several old names are coming back. Will Carrie and Austin return as well?

DOOL spoilers are ahead. Do not continue reading if you don’t want to know details about the NBC soap opera.

Carrie and Austin were a favorite couple on Days Of Our Lives. Christie Clarke began playing the role in 1986, when she was just 11-years-old. The character was last seen in Salem in 2012. The role of Austin was portrayed by two different actors during the years, Austin Peck and Patrick Muldoon. According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Clarke and Peck are both returning.

Viewers won’t see Carrie and Austin in Salem until next year. Their runs will be limited, so it isn’t a long-term arrangement. However, Days Of Our Lives fans should still be excited to see the pair. Christie spoke about how thrilled she was to work with her old co-stars again. She especially enjoyed being back at work with Austin.

Peck also talked about returning to the set. He is just as excited as Christie Clark.

“Very excited about coming back to my Days Of Our Lives family, seeing all the Days faces. It was a little like taking a hallucinogenic for two weeks after 10 years of not being there. I had a ball, and can’t wait for you guys to see us on your screen very soon!”

Days Of Our Lives writers plan on bringing back even more faces. They consider several old characters to be Salem’s “core” and want guest stars to come back to impact the storylines. As for Carrie, when she returns to Salem, Anna [Leann Hunley] is in serious trouble. As long-time viewers know, Anna is Carrie’s mother. Co-head writer Dena Higley explained their plans to Soap Opera Digest.

“We weave them into a story that is already being told and they impact the story and then exit them and bring in other people and just keep this revolving door open. With budget constraints, that’s the only way to really see these people and have them come and go in a fun way, so we see it more as an open-door policy.”

Even though Days Of Our Lives fans would love to see old favorites like Carrie and Austin return long-term, it sounds like it just isn’t possible. Actors have to be paid and if the soap opera is on a tight budget, then they have to come up with a compromise.

As for the current storyline, Orpheus (George DelHoyo), Xander (Paul Telfer), and Clyde Weston (James Read) have returned to terrorize Salem. The three found each other in prison and realized Salem was something they all shared. All three villains want revenge and everyone is on high alert.

On yesterday’s episode of Days Of Our Lives, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) was attacked by Clyde. She survived because Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) happened to stop by and saw what was happening. There was a brawl and Clyde got away. However, Chad overheard Clyde’s plans for baby Thomas, the child Chad and Abigail had together.

As for next week, DOOL spoilers from She Knows state that Theo (Kyler Pettis) will be watching Thomas and Ari when the lights go out. He has to make a quick decision. Chad and Gabi (Camila Banus) are locked inside a panic room together. There are rumors that the two might become an item in the future. However, that has not been confirmed, but it sure looks like that it might happen.
