Hull City, the most surprising team of the young 2016-2017 English Premier League season, takes on last year’s second-place finisher Arsenal in a crucial early-season match that will stream live on Saturday, as the Tigers look to add another gem to their sparkling and unexpected start.
After shocking defending champions Leicester City in the season opener, 2-1, Hull City continued with a 2-0 blanking of Swansea City before dropping a tight 1-0 decision to Manchester United and managing a 1-1 draw with Burnley. They also scored a League Cup second-round defeat of Exeter 3-1.

As a result, Hull City sits even on the table with Arsenal, who occupy in seventh place, at seven points and a positive goal differential of two — meaning that with a victory, the Tigers could overhaul the Gunners in the standings.
The newly promoted side have been even more of a shock to the Premier League, as they have managed their flying start without a full-time manager — current boss Mike Phelan is considered simply a “caretaker” — and while suffering a crushing tide of injuries.
Phelan’s squad continues to miss six regulars thanks to injuries and, as a result, has made no changes to his starting XI all season. But after signing 25-year-old England winger Ryan Mason from Tottenham Hotspur, Phelan may be expected to make at least one change when his team takes to the pitch against Arsenal on Saturday.

Though Arsenal will pose arguably the toughest test of the season so far for the Tigers, Phelan says his team is relaxed and confident heading into the match.
“It will be a tough game against a top team full of excellent players, but the spotlight will be on Arsenal. We’ve conducted ourselves really well so far and we’ll be up for this challenge,” Phelan said this week. “Our players are enjoying themselves in the Premier League and Saturday’s game is another great one for us to take on board. It’s about how we approach the game and it’s important that we show our true selves, like we have done in recent games.”
Arsenal come into the game off a disappointing 1-1 draw in ther UEFA Champions League opening match, against Paris Saint-Germain.
