What CW Shows Are Coming To Netflix Next Month?

It was five years ago that a digital license deal with Netflix, Hulu, and CW rescued the network from what appeared to be a pathway to destruction. The network itself has been losing a lot of money, and the parent companies of the network – Warner Bros. and CBS Corp. – were becoming impatient with the lack of profit.

On July 5 of this year, Netflix and CW revealed a new agreement they had in place. According to Variety, Netflix made the decision to offer the network more money in exchange for not having to wait as long for the release of new seasons of the series. In fact, the deal gives Netflix access to each series just eight days after the season ends on the network. This is an explosive comparison to the four (or more) months Netflix users were forced to wait with the previous deal the company had with the network.

The commitment Netflix made with the network is believed to have gone way past the $1 billion mark, Variety reports. Hulu had originally struck a deal with CW to get next-day access to in-season episodes, but only wanted to limit customers to the five most recent episodes. Unfortunately for Hulu, the deal they were pushing forced CW to choose between Netflix and Hulu. The deal CW made with Netflix is likely to be one of the richest TV output deals ever struck. This is not too shabby for a network that was close to being at the end of its rope a few years back!

As we have reached the halfway point in September, many CW fans who double as Netflix subscribers want to know: What CW shows are coming to Netflix next month?

In October of this year, Netflix subscribers will likely see the renewing of some of CW’s biggest shows, including Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, and iZombie. What’s on Netflix speculates that with the Netflix’s history and the deal the company has with CW, it is likely the next season of these four shows will appear next month.

This year, Netflix subscribers have already gotten to enjoy the renewal of two CW shows on Netflix. These shows include Season 1 of Supergirl and Season 2 of Jane the Virgin.

Season 2 of The Flash and Season 4 of Arrow

CW has become the home for all DC TV-related content. Netflix, similar to CW, has become the home for all things Marvel related. While new shows such as Supergirl and DC Legends of Tomorrow are currently fighting for a number one spot in your heart, chances are pretty good Arrow and The Flash have already claimed those spots.

Both Arrow and The Flash have been praised for being incredible renditions of their comic book counterpart. The Flash focuses on the story of a boy who gains the ability of super supped and Arrow focuses on a boy who uses his stealth and his bow and arrows to fight criminals.

This time last year, Arrow was released to Netflix subscribers on October 7, and The Flash was released two days before that. CW fans and Netflix subscribers have every reason to believe and expect the next season of these shows to follow the same pattern as last year and be released during the earlier portion of October.

Season 2 of iZombie

Technically, iZombie is also the adaptation of a comic book on CW. This fact is just not advertised or known as obviously as other CW shows such as Arrow and The Flash. iZombie focuses on the story of a smart young girl who had her life flipped upside down after contracting a virus during a boat party that turned her into a brain-eating zombie. It doesn’t take long for the main character to realize she can use her new ability to see memories from people who have died. So, she uses her newfound “super power” to help investigate the deaths of people.

Last year, iZombie was released on Netflix on the same day as The Flash. Netflix subscribers and CW fans can only hope they stick to the same pattern.

Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries and Season 3 of The Originals

The Vampire Diaries, as well as the spinoff series The Originals, was renewed on Netflix at the beginning of October of last year as well. CW fans hope to see the next season of these two supernatural dramas next month as well.

Season 11 of Supernatural

Supernatural is recognized as one of the most successful series to air on CW. Supernatural, like many of the other series on this list, did renew a previous season during the first week of October. Fans can only hope Netflix will repeat this pattern this year.

Season 3 of The 100

Last, but certainly not least, Season 1 of The 100 was added to Netflix during the end of October of last year. Will Season 3 follow the same pattern?

What About New CW Shows?

In the past year, CW is a network that has been very busy releasing new shows for fans to enjoy. The question remains: Will the deal with Netflix snap up all of these new shows? While no details have been confirmed, here are some of the new shows you may get to enjoy next month.
