‘Outlander’ Season 3 Spoilers: A Summary Of What We Know So Far

With Caitriona Balfe’s recent win of an EW Poppy award, and Sam Heughan’s subsequent congratulations for the co-star that he’s still not dating, interest in Outlander Season 3 spoilers have been renewed. And while the cast and crew have been pretty tight-lipped about what’s to come this season, there are a few things that we can, definitively, say are coming up this season. We can also take the time to dispel some of the false rumors that are currently circulating around the web!

Warning: this post contains spoilers. Please do not read this post if you do not wish to read Outlander Season 3 spoilers.

First, the Outlander Season 3 spoilers about Jamie having a son with another woman, as reported by Vine Report, are probable, but no indication of a confirmation has been given for sure. This spoiler has a basis in the book series, so let’s explain: in the Voyager book by Diana Gabaldon, Jamie sleeps with a woman named Geneva Dunsany, who is due to marry the Lord Ellsmere. Jamie sleeps with Geneva under duress (she has blackmailed him with a letter from his sister, Jenny), and that encounter results in a baby. Lord John Grey will, in the future, play an important role in this baby’s life.

The series has been pretty faithful to the book series thus far, so it should be interesting to see if this is an element that explored in this season’s Outlander.

Another Outlander Season 3 spoiler comes courtesy of Cinema Blend, who sat down with showrunner Ronald D. Moore to discuss the new season. He confirmed that the show will, in part, be filmed in Jamaica, and that’s proving to be a bit of a challenge:

“It’s exciting creatively; it’s very hard in terms of the production. You are doing a whole new series with every season. So that’s very difficult. Scouting new locations, building new sets, bringing in new cast members, new costumes, different eras. It increases the expense, it increases the time necessary to prep everything, to shoot everything.”

Moore, whose previous work on Battlestar Galactica prepared him for the intense demands of Outlander, also said that he’s aware of the dual challenges of serving fans who have read the book, and fans who have not:

“My job as the showrunner is to figure out how to service that audience and also bring in a new audience that has never read these books. And the show, week after week, has to function on both these levels.”

And while all of the Outlander Season 3 spoilers have yet to produce an actual premiere date on the premium cable network, International Business Times of Australia has a bit of good news: the Outlander series is coming to Blu-Ray & DVD, and a deleted scene from Season 2 has been released online.

In the deleted scene, which will also be featured on the DVD to be released via Amazon on November 1, Claire asks Jamie why he insists on meeting the Bonnie Prince Charlie in a brothel. Claire made clear that she doesn’t like her husband going off to brothels, even if it is solely for the purpose of conducting business. Jamie said that he tried to suggest an alternate meeting place, but the prince “likes what he likes.”

As always, we will keep you apprised of all the Outlander Season 3 spoilers as they become known to us.
