Some Progressives Want The DNC To Bring Bernie Back, But Will It Happen?

Since Hillary Clinton’s health has become a major issue during the general election campaign, a swath of progressive voters are calling for the DNC to bring Bernie back to run against Donald Trump. Although a number of former Sanders supporters have vowed to continue supporting the Green Party’s Dr. Jill Stein, enough progressives want the DNC to bring Bernie back into the race and are making a lot of noise.

However, the question is, will Hillary drop out? And if she does, will the DNC bring back the runner up? Would Bernie even want to come back at this point, knowing how poorly the DNC and the political establishment treated him? It’s hard to say, especially when Clinton has adamantly refused to drop out. Clinton is scheduled to get back on the campaign trail on Thursday.

In recent reports, I laid out Hillary’s health, discussed widely viewed videos by Dr. Ted Noel dissecting her symptoms, and posited the idea that it’s not really Hillary, but Bill the establishment oligarchy wants. Other writers, such as fellow Inquisitr writer Caitlin Johnstone, have already opined that progressives cannot allow the political establishment to override the voters’ choice in determining who will succeed Clinton as the nominee should she be forced to quit.

“We need to gather our chops and face this potential new devastating assault on democracy with terrifying establishment-shaking wrath.”

In Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Bernie Sanders stood with members of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe to denounce the Dakota Access Pipeline. He spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of anti-DAPL protesters who are hoping to bring pressure to the White House to put a stop to it permanently.

“It is vitally important that we show our solidarity with the Native American people of this country. There are several basic issues that we’re discussing today, and number one is the end of the exploitation of Native American people and the respect of rights … The second issue, of global consequence, is that we understand that the future of energy in this country is not more oil. It is not more pipelines. It is not more carbon emissions. It is the transformation of our energy system away from from oil.”

Bernie also raised the important issue of water, and how pipelines can bring devastating consequences to the water supply should they leak. He also addressed the reason future wars may be fought.

“There are those who believe that in the future the wars that will be fought on this planet will not be all about oil. They will be over water.”

After his appearance, Ed Schultz of RT briefly interviewed Bernie Sanders as the senator walked back from the stage after his speech. He asked Bernie if he believes there’s a chance the pipeline can be stopped. Bernie expressed optimism about the chances of stopping it.

Schultz then tried to bring up the topic of the current presidential campaign. Bernie’s reply was curt.

“No. I don’t want to talk about it, not right now.”

Former Obama environmental advisor and progressive activist Van Jones also spoke in opposition of the pipeline.

The DNC and the Clintons are all feeling the heat from voters, especially after the latest Guccifer 2.0 WikiLeaks document drop that implicates Hillary, President Obama, and the DNC in a pay-to-play deal. This may bring back memories for Illinois residents as a scheme similar to the one that put former Governor Rod Blagojevich behind bars for 14 years. According to the Chicago Tribune, Blagojevich engaged in a pay-to-play scheme to fill Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat after the 2008 election, among other things.

After the latest WikiLeaks dump, Zero Hedge listed 18 major donors who were then appointed to cushy positions, such as ambassador or deputy attorney general. Julius Genochowski, for example, donated more than $3.8 million to the DNC and subsequently was appointed as FCC chair where he served from 2009 until 2013. Jane Hartley donated more than $600,000 to the DNC and was then nominated by Obama to serve as ambassador to France and Monaco.

DNC interim President Donna Brazile decided to bring back the old canard that the organization is a “victim of a crime” and then placed the blame firmly on the back of Russian hackers.

Emails between former Secretary of Defense Colin Powell and Democratic donor Jeffrey Leeds bring to light that it isn’t just voters who worry about Hillary’s health. Back in March of 2015, Leeds wrote that Clinton supporter Sheldon Whitehouse said that “she could barely climb the podium steps.” Powell replied that she does not look good on HDTV.

“She is working herself to death.”

The two also reportedly exchanged an email which reveals that eight years after losing to President Obama, “she can’t believe or accept it.”

These emails, among others that were released, reveal the tunnel-vision ambition of the Clintons and the DNC to fulfill the goals of the corporations they work for. In order to bring Bernie back into the race, he would likely have to agree to play by their rules, and given his history of social and political activism, getting back into the presidential race may not seem so palatable to him now.
