Naya Rivera Confirms Feud With Lea Michele, Admits They Didn’t Speak On ‘Glee’ Set

Naya Rivera is confirming her long rumored feud with former Glee co-star Lea Michele.

Naya got seriously candid about her feud drama with Michele on the set of the Fox comedy in her new memoir, Sorry, Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes & Growing Up, where Rivera admitted that her and Lea’s relationship actually got so bad towards the end of Glee that they refused to speak to each other during filming of the sixth and final season.

According to Just Jared, who posted excerpts from Naya’s tell-all book, Rivera revealed all about how her friendship with Lea turned into the two completely ignoring each other during filming of Glee‘s final season in 2014, claiming that their drama stemmed from Michele not liking to share the spotlight.

“One of the Glee writers once said that Lea and I were like two sides of the same battery and that about sums us up,” Naya wrote about her and Michele’s feud in the book. “We are both strong willed and competitive — not just with each other but with everyone — and that’s not a good mixture.”

Naya revealed to fans that she and Lea actually began their relationship on good terms when they first began filming Glee back in 2008, but noted that things with Michele quickly turned sour when her character, Santana Lopez, began getting more air time on the show – which quickly developed into a nasty feud between Naya and Lea.

“As the show progressed that friendship started to break down,” Naya Rivera said of the deterioration of her and Lea Michele’s once close friendship, even hinting that Lea is just like her Type A character Rachel Berry on the musical comedy, which was canceled after six seasons in 2015.

“I think Rachel — erm, I mean Lea — didn’t like sharing the spotlight,” Naya wrote about her former co-star. “Lea was a lot more sensitive [than me] and it seemed like she blamed me for anything and everything that went wrong,” Rivera noted.

Naya then went on to confirm that serious tension started to brew between herself and Michele on the Glee set towards the end of the show, as Rivera claimed in the memoir that she and Michele barely even spoke to each other when filming the sixth and final season of the once juggernaut Fox hit.

“If I’d complained about anyone or anything, she’d assumed I was b****ing about her,” Rivera continued of the widely reported feud between herself and the Scream Queens star. “Soon, she started to ignore me,” Naya said, “and eventually it got to the point where she didn’t say a word to me for all of season 6.”

Naya’s seriously candid feud confessions come after months of reports claiming that Rivera and Lea weren’t exactly best friends while filming Glee, though Michele previously denied reports that she and Rivera were locked in a nasty feud when asked about Naya during an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman back in 2014.

Letterman quizzed Lea on her realtionship with Naya after feud reports hit the headlines, though Entertainment Weekly reported at the time that Michele was quick to dispel the widely reported rumors claiming that she and Rivera weren’t getting along.

“You’d know,” Lea said when asked by the late night host if the reports of a nasty feud between herself and Rivera were accurate, “because I’d get a ring and I’d put Jell-O in it and I would make it, like, fun for everyone, and it would be super hot!”
