‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 10: First Look At Penny And Leonard’s Family

The Big Bang Theory Season 10 premiere is not due in our televisions until September 19, but the first look at the “family affair” happening in it is already too exciting not to talk about.

E! News is getting the “feels” from the recently released still from the first episode of The Big Bang Theory Season 10, which features additional cast members to play the role of Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon’s family.

According to TV Line, the new season of the popular comedy series from CBS will include television heavyweights Christine Baranski, Judd Hirsch, Laurie Metcalf, and Keith Carradine, as well as Katey Sagal and Jack McBrayer.

Titled “The Call Sheet Conundrum,” the opener of The Big Bang Theory Season 10 will revolve around Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) plans to renew their vows, which means the show will be introducing the families of both characters in the upcoming season.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, The Big Bang Theory executive producer Steve Molaro reveals the big family drama that is about to occur.

“Penny’s close with her dad [Keith Carradine]. As we know, her brother Randall has been a bit of trouble over the years, selling drugs and being in and out of jail, and that’s put a lot of stress on her mom,” he explained.

He also revealed that there will be quite a bit of a tension between Penny’s mother and brother, who will be played by Sagal and McBrayer.

“You will pick up on the tensions between her mother and her brother very quickly, and you get a glimpse of Penny and her dad being caught in the middle of that,” Molaro added.

Aside from that, the writers of the show threw in a different conflict on Leonard’s side which involves his father, portrayed by Hirsch, and Sheldon’s mother, played by Metcalf.

Vague revelations of the plot twist aside, The Big Bang Theory showrunners were generous enough to share some wedding photos of the family and stills of some of the gang’s shenanigans, which will be featured in the show’s upcoming new season.

The Big Bang Theory is a comedy series from CBS starring Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayin Bialik, and Melissa Rauch.

Like their fans, members of the cast are also excited for The Big Bang Theory Season 10 premiere, with Molaro revealing to TV Line how they marveled at the extent of the show’s achievements.

“The entire cast started to [calculate] the total number of TV episodes they have all been a part of, and it was over 4,000,” Molaro said.

“Johnny [Galecki] texted me more than once from the [soundstage] just to say they were simply having the greatest time. Everybody was having a blast.”

The Big Bang Theory executive producer also reveals that they make it a point that the new cast members — albeit non-recurring ones — shine, even with a little less than 20 minutes screen time.

“Every character on the show has something great to do,” he told EW, emphasizing that the screen time for all cast members “got nicely distributed.”

He also revealed his plans for Sagal and McBrayer in a less crowded near future of the show:

“Now that they are officially members of the Big Bang family we would love to have them come back so we can service them with more time and energy than we could in the premiere.”
