‘Big Brother 18’ Spoilers: ‘BB16’ America’s Favorite Player Donny Thompson Weighs In On ‘BB18,’ Including Houseguest Strategy, Possible Winner, Nicole’s Game

Big Brother 18 is coming to an end, with only nine days left in the season. As such, one renowned former houseguest is weighing in on the season and how the houseguests have been navigating their way through the game.

On September 11, Donny Thompson, the mild-mannered, bearded cast member from Big Brother 16 who won America’s Favorite Player that season, was a featured guest on Rob Cesternino’s Rob Has a Podcast, speaking out about his views on the Big Brother 18 game so far.

Agreeing with Rob regarding Corey Brooks emerging as the possible Big Brother 18 winner, Donny said, “I think you’re right. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings one bit.”

Donny added, however, that he believes much of Corey’s gameplay has been guided by his showmance partner Nicole Franzel, a veteran player who was part of Donny’s season. Donny said he took this stance because Corey didn’t know much about Big Brother prior to the commencement of the season.

When asked if Nicole’s game was different during Big Brother 18 when compared to Season 16, Donny said he felt it was. He noted that although Nicole was also in a showmance during Big Brother 16, she didn’t isolate herself from the others, which she seems to be doing now with Corey.

Nevertheless, Donny said, “I won’t say it’s been bad game play because look how far she’s got, so it’s been pretty good game play.” He further stated he believes Nicole may have been trying to copy some of Derrick Levasseur’s game play, as he was the Big Brother 16 grand prize winner.

When Rob asked Donny why he wasn’t asked to return to the game over a player such as Nicole, Donny tried to tactfully express that former houseguests asked to return were probably more on par with newer players, many of which knew nothing about the game of Big Brother.

Donny noted it was not just where they placed in the game, but said, “It’s who they are also… it makes it a little more equal… You couldn’t have put Derrick in there… I don’t even think you could have put Vanessa in there. I think you had to have these type…”

When Rob asked Donny if he thought the veterans weren’t really very good players, Donny made sure to express that was not what he was saying, but explained he believes the veterans were chosen to make the “playing field a little more equal.” He added that if certain more successful veterans had been chosen to play Big Brother 18, there may have been talk that the game had become unfair.

Rob also asked Donny how well he thought Nicole would do if she makes it to the Big Brother 18 final two and whether she would be able to convince jury members to vote for her. Donny said he believes Nicole would “have great words ahead of time in her head…” but that she may “…panic and struggle a little bit…” Donny continued by saying Nicole “has it in her… absolutely… if she can calm her nerves down to get it out…”

Regarding Paulie Calafiore, Donny believed he started out playing a good game but it took a wrong turn somewhere. However, Donny joked that Paulie is the only male in the jury house right now so he may have done something right after all.

With regard to Paul Abrahamian, Donny said he didn’t know if he could have taken the outspoken houseguest’s loud demeanor, as he likes to get his sleep and Paul may have kept him up.

Rob questioned Donny about who he would not want to win Big Brother 18, and Donny responded by asserting he couldn’t say because he likes all of the players who are now in the final five.

As far as America’s Favorite Player this season, Donny admitted he hopes Victor Arroyo wins the Big Brother 18 title. He noted that he felt Victor is a very honest person and trusting other houseguests was his ultimate downfall.

Rob also asked Donny whether jury members are able to talk about who they are going to vote for to win Big Brother. Donny indicated there are handlers in the jury house that don’t allow game talk, but when a newly evicted houseguest arrives and the cameras are rolling, they are able to discuss the game.

Donny revealed he will be watching Big Brother: Over The Top occasionally, but noted he would stay updated through Rob and other online sources.

Joker’s Updates live feed spoilers reveal that Corey is the week 12 Head of Household (HOH) and he nominated Victor and Paul for eviction. Nicole won the Power of Veto (POV) and left the nominations intact. According to houseguest chatter, Victor is the eviction target.

According to Big Brother Network, because there are just a few more episodes of Big Brother 18 left in the season, the show’s schedule is somewhat different. A special episode will be broadcast on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. On Wednesday, another episode will air at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and on Friday another show will be broadcast, which may involve clips, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The 90-minute season finale is slated to air at 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time on September 21.

Big Brother Network reports that only a week later, on September 28 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time, the all-digital Big Brother: Over the Top will begin streaming on CBS All Access.
