‘The Division’ Special Report On Update 1.4, Public Test Server Launch Both Postponed

With patch 1.4 for The Division expected to release in October, players are eager to learn more about the patch. After all, the update will focus on fixing the most persistent bugs and address major gameplay issues that have developed since the game’s launch. The patch is so important to the game that even the paid DLC for the game is being affected by its release. Survival and Last Stand are now releasing later than previously scheduled, and a Special Report on the update was scheduled to release tomorrow covering its specifics.

In last week’s state of the game, The Division team announced a Special Report on the contents of the 1.4 update. The patch is likely to revamp the title’s gameplay by lowering the time it takes to kill an enemy, addressing the way enemies scale at higher levels, and improving the quality and timing of loot as reported by the Inquisitr. The Special Report was going to be an informational stream on the specifics of the update by detailing exact bug fixes and design.

Unfortunately, that Special Report is no longer expected to occur on Tuesday, September 13. In a post on The Division official forums, a community developer stated that the preview of update 1.4 and its changes was not complete enough to warrant a full Special Report. Players can expect a few more specifics on the upcoming patch for The Division during this week’s state of the game, however.

“We mentioned last week on State of the Game that we would be hosting a Special Report for Update 1.4. tomorrow (Tuesday the 13th). We will need to delay this show as at this stage we wouldn’t be able to show all of the content we would like to. While the Special Report format demands that we be more complete in the type of things that we show, we’ll be using our weekly State of the Game to give you some more concrete solutions that will be present in Update 1.4.”

In the same post, it was also announced that the public test server is not going to open up later this week as previously announced. The new PC-only testing grounds were supposed to go live for Elite Task Force applicants on September 15 and all other PC owners of The Division on September 19. Those dates are no longer valid for the launch of the public test server due to similar reasons behind delaying the Special Report. Patch 1.4 does not yet include all of the things developers want players to experience when they first see update 1.4 on the public test server.

No replacement dates for the 1.4 Special Report or the public test server are currently announced at this time. Players can anticipate more details on 1.4 later this week, but the arrival of the public test server is a complete unknown. The public test server FAQ on the official website for The Division is not yet updated for the news; however, it still contains a few more details on the server when it does become available. As of this writing, patch 1.4 is still on track to release sometime in October even after these delays.

Patch 1.4 will definitely change the way players experience The Division. Among the major changes, other quality-of-life changes have also been mentioned for the 1.4 update. A number of these improvements are noted in the August 25 state of the game address on Twitch. For instance, weapon skins no longer taking up inventory space, a “craft all” button, faster movement in the Base of Operations, and vendor buyback are all on track to be added to The Division with 1.4 alongside the major gameplay redesigns.
