Chris Soules To Return To Reality TV Alongside ‘Bachelor’ Lovebirds And A ‘Bachelorette’ Bad Boy

Chris Soules is expanding his reality TV resume. The former Bachelor star, affectionately known as Prince Farming, will appear on the upcoming season of the new Freeform series, Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?, according to Us Weekly. Soules, who broke things off with his fiancé, Whitney Bischoff, last year, will take part in a camping trip in the Colorado mountains with Bachelor lovebirds Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell. Chris Soules is a good friend of the most recently engaged Bachelor couple.

And Chris isn’t the only franchise alum who will make a cameo on the Colorado camping trip. Bachelorette Season 12 villain Chad Johnson will also travel with the trio. While Chris will bring years of outdoors experience with him, Chad will bring lunchmeat, protein powder, and possibly, a bad attitude.

Chris Soules had already pitched a tent on reality TV before. Fans of the ABC reality franchise may recall that during his season of the show, Chris went on an overnight group camping date which included sleeping in tents. Chris took his harem of girls to a lake for some swimming before he tested their tent-building skills. Later, the gang gathered around the campfire to roast marshmallows. Resident “camping virgin” Ashley Iaconetti even snuck into Chris’ tent during the overnight camp-out. But for his latest camping trip, Chris Soules will be decidedly single, so don’t expect him to have any company in his tent.

In addition to Soules and Johnson, the new spinoff Freeform series will feature newly engaged Bachelorette couple JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers, as well as Higgins’ former bachelorettes, twins Emily and Haley Ferguson and Lace Morris, who will be accompanied by her Bachelor in Paradise fiancé, Grant Kemp.

Chris Soules lives and works on his family’s farm in Iowa, but he became a reality TV darling after he first appeared on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette. After he was dumped by Dorfman, Soules landed the lead role as The Bachelor, then went on to compete on Dancing with the Stars in 2015. Soules was also an unlikely contestant on Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition. Chris competed against celebs like Dean Cain, Jaleel White, Barry Williams (The Brady Bunch), Kendra Wilkinson, and Jenni Farley (Jersey Shore), in a cooking “boot camp.” Chris Soules and the rest of the competitors lost to Jersey Shore star Jenni “Jwoww” Farley.

With all of those reality TV gigs under his belt, these days, Chris Soules calls several reality TV veterans his close friends.

Still, with such an impressive list of reality TV credits, it’s almost hard to remember that Chris Soules was hesitant to return to TV after his initial Bachelorette heartbreak. In an interview with Oprah: Where Are They Now? earlier this year, Soules said after his Bachelorette break-up he was ready to head back to his quiet life in Iowa.

“When Andi sent me home, the next morning, the producer’s like, ‘So, uh, what do you think about being the Bachelor?’ I’m like, ‘No! I just got my heart broken by this girl. I have no interest in dating other people,'” Soules revealed.

Chris later took some time to think about it (and obviously changed his mind), but he did admit that he didn’t feel worthy of being the star of a hit reality show. Fast forward one year and it’s more like his second job!

You can see Chris Soules make his return to reality TV when Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After? premieres in October on Freeform.
