Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer are front and center in the latest batch of promotional images for filmmaker Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger. Best Movie Ever News managed to get their hands on some officially-released photographs, which are being passed around to help promote the film’s forthcoming trailer. While the clip is expected to hit the internet sometime tomorrow, the movie itself isn’t slated to hit theaters until next summer.
Although the film was originally slated to dazzle moviegoers on Memorial Day Weekend, Disney opted to push the movie deeper into the summer schedule. Presently, The Lone Ranger is scheduled to appear in theaters all across the United States on July 3, 2013.
According to USA Today, Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski understood the difficulty of bringing the classic Western to the big screen when he accepted the project. To help give the movie a completely different vibe, the entire adventure will be narrated by Johnny Depp’s character Tonto.
“The challenge was to turn the story on its head and reinvent it,” Verbinski explained. “Everyone has heard about the Lone Ranger, but not from the only other who was there — Tonto.”
Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer, the actor tapped to portray the titular hero, will debut the movie’s first trailer while visiting The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this Tuesday. During a recent interview, Hammer explained that the movie isn’t so much a Western as it is a story about the friendship between two vastly different individuals.
“This is all about two guys who are on the same path, but who have come from two very different worlds,” Hammer explained. When it came to delivering the Ranger’s iconic battle cry, Armie decided to just give it his all. “Right before the horse threw its legs up in that scene, the thought went through my head, ‘I’m really about to yell this right now.’ As the horse landed, the whole crew roared. Johnny told me, ‘That was blankety-blank awesome.’ “
The Lone Ranger, starring Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, and Tom Wilkinson, will introduce the iconic hero to a new generation on July 3, 2013. The latest batch of promotional images from the film have been included below.
