Sandra Oh Finally Confirms If She’s Returning To ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ [Video]

Sandra Oh is finally confirming if she’ll be returning to Grey’s Anatomy in Season 13.

After months of speculation that Oh could be reprising her role as Cristina Yang in the new season of the medical drama, which is set to premiere on ABC on September 22, Sandra finally spoke out about the rampant rumors in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada.

Unfortunately for fans hoping to see Cristina back for Season 13, the actress didn’t exactly have great news when quizzed about her potential return that fans have been speculating about for months.

“No, I have no plans to return to Grey’s anytime soon,” Sandra confirmed amid the recent speculation suggesting she’d be returning to Grey’s Anatomy after leaving the ABC drama in 2014. “I’ve gotta tell you those rumors, I don’t know who starts them but it really is tough.”

This marks the first time Sandra has officially spoken out about the rumors she’s planning a big return to Grey’s Anatomy after seemingly teasing that she could be gearing up for a return as Cristina back in April.

Speaking to LA Times, when asked about a potential return for Cristina to Grey Sloan Memorial, Sandra coyly replied, “I love that there are rumors” but didn’t offer up any further details on her widely speculated return.

Yang also previously hinted that she may be planning on heading back to the medical drama on social media, posting a shot of herself and Kevin McKidd, who plays Cristina’s former husband, Owen, to Twitter back in June.

“And wait – my TV husband has a new TV wife?? Xqueez me? I don’t think so, Ha!” Oh tweeted out after Yang’s former husband married Amelia in the Season 12 finale of Grey’s Anatomy. “Owen what r u thinking??”

But it looks like Sandra has now finally shut down the Cristina rumors for good, and Grey’s Anatomy fans aren’t too pleased.

“WHAT THE HELL!” Twitter user @KatelanWales wrote alongside a number of crying emojis after Sandra confirmed that Cristina would not be back, while Grey’s Anatomy fan @keyrosehart added, “Why love why?”

Oh’s denial that she has plans to head back to Grey’s Anatomy in Season 13 come just days after fan speculation was sent into overdrive amid reports claiming that the second episode of the upcoming season was titled “The Return Of Cristina Yang.”

Grey’s Anatomy fans took to social media to speculate about the possibility of Sandra bringing back Cristina Yang after Twitter user @The_GreyMethod claimed on the social media site that the title for Episode 2 had leaked and confirmed Oh’s return.

The Grey’s Anatomy fan tweeted out a screen shot of the episode title to social media, though it has since been revealed that the second episode does not, in fact, allude to Cristina’s return.

The speculation that Sandra could be bringing Cristina Yang back to Grey’s Anatomy first began earlier this year after Debbie Allen, who serves as a producer and also plays Jackson’s mom Catherine on the drama, confirmed that Episode 1 of Season 13 was titled “Undo” in an Instagram post.

The title tease got Grey’s Anatomy fans speculating that those behind the scenes were gearing up to “Undo” Owen’s marriage to Amelia, hinting that Cristina could be returning to reunite with her former husband.

The big tease caused viewers to do some serious speculating about Cristina on social media, jumping to the conclusion that Sandra would be back at some point in Season 13.

“Rumor has it Christina Yang is coming back to Grey’s and I’m doing back flips,” @IrishRooney4 tweeted following the tease, while @KasiaMurphy added on the social media site, “Word on the street is that an original character from Grey’s will be in season 13. Swear if it’s Christina ima cry like a baby.”
