Selena Gomez Plans Girls Weekend With Taylor Swift Amid Anxiety And Depression Struggles

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have been close friends for years and while Gomez is currently going through personal struggles, she is said to be planning a reunion with Swift as soon as she’s up for it.

On the heels of Swift’s breakup from actor Tom Hiddleston, a source claims Selena Gomez is looking forward to a girls’ weekend with the “Wildest Dreams” singer.

“As soon as [Selena Gomez]’s feeling better, Taylor has promised a girls’ weekend,” an insider told Hollywood Life on September 8. “She can hang out with their girls quad and they can pamper themselves at a health spa.”

Selena Gomez announced a career hiatus at the end of last month and told People Magazine that her struggles with Lupus had led to bouts of panic attacks, depression and anxiety. The announcement came in the midst of Selena Gomez’s Revival World Tour, which was scheduled to continue on until late December. Now, however, all of the singer’s remaining tour dates have been canceled.

Following Selena Gomez’s performance in Auckland, New Zealand, she and her former boyfriend, Justin Bieber, were involved in a messy argument on Instagram, which may or may not have led to Gomez’s mental health concerns. In mid-August, after Bieber posted a photo of himself and girlfriend Sofia Richie in the backseat of a car in Japan and demanded his fans stop being mean, Gomez spoke out.

After reading Bieber’s threats to fans, which included a statement about making his account private and another claiming they aren’t really his fans if they don’t start being nice, Gomez told Bieber his fans loved him and suggested he quit posting pictures of himself and Richie if he couldn’t handle the backlash. In response, Bieber fired back at Gomez by claiming she was using him for attention.

According to an In Touch Weekly report this week, Selena Gomez “had a meltdown” after learning of Bieber’s romance with Richie, especially due to the fact that Bieber completely shut Gomez out of his life upon the start of the relationship.

“The more he ignored her, the more she freaked out,” the magazine’s source explained on September 7.

The source also claimed that despite Bieber’s aggressive comments on Instagram, he and his family were praying that Selena Gomez “gets the help she needs.”

As Selena Gomez’s fallout with Bieber continued to play out in the press, Swift’s own relationship with Hiddleston came to an end after just three months.

“When Taylor told [Selena Gomez] about the breakup, the first thing Selena advised Taylor to do was slow down,” the source revealed to Hollywood Life on September 6. “Selena has known about the Taylor and Tom [Hiddleston], 35, split for a while.”

As the report explained, Selena Gomez offered up some advice to Swift and suggested she take a break from dating. As fans will recall, Swift’s dating history is quite extensive but the majority of her romances haven’t lasted more than a couple of months. While Swift was involved with Calvin Harris for 15 months, the relationship seemed to be the longest for the singer, who is known to channel her breakups into songs.

“[Selena Gomez]’s advice was to take a break from men and to spend some time enjoying being single,” the source explained, adding that Swift can distract herself from dating by “focusing her energy in the studio, and dropping a new album before another boyfriend pops up.”
