Britney Spears Has Total Control Over Interviews, But Does She Have Control Of Her Own Life?

Weeks ago, Britney Spears’ striking cover on Flaunt magazine was released to the world. On Thursday, Sept. 8, fans are finally getting a taste of the interview that accompanies the cover and captivating photos.

Unfortunately, Britney Spears’s fans aren’t going to learn a lot about who present-day Britney Spears is or what she’s all about. Instead, they are going to be disappointed with the interview, which provides little details into the now mysterious princess of pop. Spears’ editorial shoot for the magazine is striking though, as noted by the Daily Mail.

According to Pop Crush, Britney Spears’s Flaunt magazine cover story has finally arrived and it’s not too revealing for hardcore fans of the singer. All it addresses is that Spears is an anxious and guarded person around those she’s not familiar with, which is understandable. In the 20-minute interview, she says she doesn’t listen to her music and talks about her spirituality when asked about her legacy.

“It’s funny, because I don’t really listen to my music…I sing my songs every night [at her ongoing residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas] and I have to listen to it that way, but I’m all about change. And new. And forthcoming. But, there is a part of me in my music and I hope, for my fans, that they can have that part of me when they hear me on the radio, or buy my CD, or whatever they do.”

Instead, the writer talks about Spears and her team’s willingness to make her a mystery. At one point during the interview, he keeps asking, “You’re going to keep performing despite what comes?” The writer is basically asking her why “she still chooses to put herself back out there” despite her highly-publicized breakdown, and the public’s scrutiny about her auto-tuned voice and her lackluster live performances.

Spears responds, “I don’t understand your question.” When it comes to her thoughts on interviews, she exclaimed, “No more interviews? That would be great!”

According to TMZ, Britney Spears graced the cover of Flaunt, which is an indie music, fashion, and culture magazine based in Los Angeles. On the cover of the magazine, Spears poses with her arms raised around her head in a black sheer crop top and high-waisted leather skirt. Her smoky eyes look down and away from the camera and her blonde hair is styled with asymmetrical bangs, which is a departure from her usual messy extensions.

By today, another photo of Spears on the front cover of the magazine has emerged. This time around, she wears a black high-neck dress with bell sleeves and a diamond encrusted belt. Spears still rocks the smoky-eyed look and a crown jewel on her head. She looks straight into the camera as she waves her arms around in the air, according to the Daily Mail.

In another photo, Spears takes it back to her In The Zone days by showing off her incredible abs in an open white fur jacket with a white bra and rhinestone bell bottoms underneath. In the two remaining photos, Spears looks like the combination of an angel and the devil as she poses in a white ethereal dress and a black blazer over a black corset and underwear. It’s probably one of the most creative photo shoots that Spears has starred in for the past few years.

Spears may have control over her interviews, but she still doesn’t have complete control over her life. She is in a lifetime conservatorship under her father, Jamie Spears. As part of her ongoing lawsuit with former manager Sam Lufti, Spears was previously shielded from testifying in Lufti’s case back in 2011.

Despite Spears’ team’s claims that testifying would pose “serious risks” to the pop star, she did testify back in May “without incident in Lufti’s presence, even snacking on a cookie during a down moment,” as reported by the New York Times. While it’s clear that Spears does not have complete control of her life, it looks like she’s trying to have control of the reins.
