Stevie J Headed Back To Rehab — ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ Star Avoids Jail, Gets House Arrest

Stevie J was back in court in Manhattan on Tuesday to try and stop a judge from sending him to jail. The Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star was successful in avoiding time behind bars, but he’ll still have to pay for a string of failed drug tests. An exasperated judge decided that it was time for Stevie to head back to rehab and that’s not all. When he gets done with the rehab stay, Stevie has to follow up that time with a little bit of house arrest, and it’s all related to that $1 million child support case brought on by his ex Carol Bennett.

According to the New York Daily news, Stevie J admitted to prosecutors that he had used cocaine on a couple of occasions while he was out on bail. This is a direct violation of the bail order since the LHHATL star was ordered to stay clean and must test clean on any drug tests he takes.

Stevie J was reportedly in court in an attempt to keep himself out of jail amid the child support battle he has been fighting. Although he is going to trial and is due back in court in December to face allegations of nonpayment of child support, Stevie announced on social media last week that he’d be heading back to jail at some point this week to do a little time.

While the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star was able to avoid court this week, it seems that he was anticipating a jail stay because of the failed drug tests that were a mandatory part of his last bail proceeding in relation to the child support case. On top of that, Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew DeFilippis told the judge that Stevie had missed a number of drug tests and court-ordered counseling.

Page Six reported that Stevie J was warned by Judge Debra Freeman that if he fails another drug test, he’ll probably go straight to prison rather than getting another stay in rehab.

Stevie was also accused of flying to Buffalo, New York, back in March without getting permission from the court. He denies ever traveling without letting authorities know what he was up to.

After the court date ended and everyone was exiting the courtroom, Stevie J had much more to say. As the prosecutor left the court, Stevie J called after him, calling the prosecution “clowns.” He then shouted after Andrew DeFilippis, saying, “You wanna have a word with me, Andrew?” The prosecutor did not respond and continued to walk away.

When reporters approached the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star and asked him to comment on the court date and what had come of it, Stevie said, “I’m a grown man and he’s a grown man, and he’s making allegations that might take me away from my family, so of course if we’re on the street why not have a heart-to-heart?”

Stevie was then asked if DeFilippis should consider his request to have a conversation as a threat. Stevie J replied, “Of course not.”

So it looks like Stevie J will avoid jail once again but not if he skips out on drug testing or tests positive for drugs again. He will be headed back to rehab again for treatment. After the LHHATL star completes treatment, he will be required to follow up with outpatient treatment and house arrest.

Stevie J seems most upset about the court-mandated house arrest. “Of course I’m not OK with it, but it’s more or less like confinement to home for what?” Stevie J said when asked what he thought of the ruling. “Cause I’m a black tax paying citizen taking care of all his kids?”
