Lydia McLaughlin Says She’s A Basket Case These Days: What’s Up In The OC?

Lydia McLaughlin has been keeping a low profile in Orange County since leaving The Real Housewives of Orange County behind a few years ago. Lydia felt that the show was simply too dramatic for her, even though McLaughlin was filming the show with her friend Alexis Bellino. McLaughlin was so affected by the drama on the show that she broke down in tears on the reunion special and walked off the stage when she felt the ladies were acting inappropriately.

Lydia later revealed that she wanted to leave The Real Housewives of Orange County so she could focus on her family. She also revealed that she wanted to have another child. When Lydia announced her exit from the show, she was already pregnant with her third son, Roman. Just a few months after leaving the show, she made the happy announcement.

According to a new Instagram post, Lydia McLaughlin is now revealing that she’s an emotional wreck these days. As it turns out, McLaughlin’s two older sons are heading to school this week, and Lydia is a mess as she dropped them off at school.

“I am not cut out for this first day of school stuff #Basketcase,” Lydia McLaughlin revealed on Instagram, sharing a picture of her walking her sons to school.

McLaughlin still has little Roman at home, as he is still a toddler. And many of her fans, who knew what McLaughlin was going through when she dropped her children off at school, reminded her that she still had little Roman at home to comfort and entertain her. And Lydia’s many followers reached out to her to support her.

“Awe it will get better!! My son went in to 4th grade my baby girls (twins) went in to first, I use to cry but this time my husband & I gave them kisses, got the pic then we were off on our day date…mani pedi, couples massage & lunch! It was perfect then we picked them up together,” one person wrote in support of Lydia, while another revealed that homeschooling could be a solution for her.

“You might want to consider homeschooling, I did and my children thank me all the time. They are in their late twenties now and we have a very close relationship and say that when they have children they are also going to homeschool, that makes me very happy especially with all the killings in schools every year,” another person replied to her on Instagram.

McLaughlin hasn’t expressed interest in returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County. Lydia has revealed that she would never say never, but there are no plans these days to return. As it turns out, Lydia McLaughlin relied on her faith to guide her through the show.

“When I was asked back to do season 9, I wanted to do it. Being on the show was everything the world tells us to desire and it was what I desired,” Lydia McLaughlin has written in her book, Beyond Orange County: A Housewives Guide to Faith and Happiness, according to E! Online, adding, “But deep, deep down—so quiet I could almost silence it—I knew in my heart it was not God’s plan for me to go back.”

As it turns out, McLaughlin felt that a higher power told her to leave the show.

“I knew God was calling me to walk away from the show,” Lydia continued in her book, which is available now.

What do you think of Lydia McLaughlin’s decision to leave the show? What advice would you give her as her sons head back to school?
