‘The Flash’ Season 3: Mirror Master Is Different On The CW Flashpoint Arc, Carlos Valdes Weighs In On The DC Comics Villain — Episode 1 Trailer Revealed

The Flash Season 3 is on deck with the Episode 1 “Time Strikes Back” trailer released. It has also been announced that Mirror Master, an iconic villain in the comics, will be making his way to the CW TV series this fall. How do you think this villain’s powers will fare in the Flashpoint story arc?

However, the comic has always portrayed Mirror Master with a gun that allows himself to be warped between dimensions. Executive producer Todd Helbing described the character differently, according to TV Line.

“[Mirror Master] doesn’t use the [mirror] gun. He’s a true meta, but he’s not necessarily warping into other dimensions.”

So what will he be warping into then, if anything? This is a character description by Grey Damon, according to TV Fanatic.

“One of the Flash’s most infamous Rogues, Sam Scudder – aka Mirror Master – is a smooth criminal with a huge ego. Upon discovering he now has the power to travel through any reflective surface, Scudder embarks on a massive crime spree to prove himself the greatest thief that Central City has ever seen.”

So this would suggest that it’s reflective surfaces he’ll be exploiting as opposed to inter-dimensional travel.

Returning Villains

Flash executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti made an announcement of Flashpoint villains making their way to Season 3, according to Science Fiction. Firstly, Gorilla Grodd is making a comeback in a two-part series that will involve a visit to Gorilla City.

It was also announced by the network that Mirror Master will be making his appearance in the Flashpoint story arc during Episode 4 of Season 3 of the CW TV series.

Another speedster known as Savitar will be making his way onto The Flash, and Doctor Alchemy will also be appearing. It is unknown whether they’ll factor into Flashpoint at this time. Keiynan Lonsdale, who portrays Kid Flash, had been seen on set.

Although the character has historically worked with the Rogue characters, he’ll be making his debut working alone.

The Flash’s Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon, gave his input on Season 3 and what villain he’d like to see. He said it was indeed Mirror Master. Valdes has been wanting this since Season 1. He felt visual effects specialist Armen V. Kevorkian has the ability to nicely represent the character, according to Monkeys Fighting Robots.

“I have been vying for this since season one; I want to see Mirror Master. I feel like with Armen’s (Kevorkian) visual effects skills some magic could be done with Mirror Master. Like a multi-episode arch.”

Who Is Mirror Master?

In the Flash comics, he’s rather iconic and a recurring opposition in the DC Universe. The old-school description has him exploiting mirrors, but the modernized CW version uses the “reflective surface” terminology, which would cover more than just mirrors alone. It sounds as if “reflective surfaces” encompasses more than just mirrors.

There are two versions: Sam Scudder who first appeared in The Flash No. 105 and Evan McCulloch who first appeared in Animal Man No. 8.

Keep in mind McCulloch appeared in the Flashpoint event and was in quite a predicament. He was stuck in the mirrorverse, so this will be an interesting take on seeing where Sam Scudder goes on the CW.

So how do you think the Flashpoint event will pan out on the CW TV series this fall?

The Flash Season 3 is slated for October 4 with Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, and a host of others. Do you think this new story arc is set to impress? With Valdes vying to have Mirror Master in Season 3, do you value his choice?
