‘Avengers: Infinity War’: No More ‘Avengers’ After Part 1 & 2? Focus On MCU Cast Of Characters From Phase 3 In 4? ‘Doctor Strange’ Movie A Catalyst? [Rumors]

The Avengers: Infinity War movies are supposed to be an epic story for the MCU and thanks to the Russo brothers, part one and two will be delivered to fans in couple or so years. Now comes a possible future of a lacking Avengers movie beyond that, according to Movie Pilot. The Untitled Avengers flick is in 2019, but what happens to the superhero team after that?

Will the Doctor Strange movie usher in an era of no Avengers movies whatsoever?

Avengers Movie Title Change

The second Infinity War title was no longer considered Avengers 4, but changed it to Untitled Avengers Movie. Director Joe Russo explained the reason, according to Cinema Blend.

“We wanted the movie to be very different and distinctive, you know. There’s certainly cross-pollination between characters and some story-arcs, but you know, the first movie is very clearly Avengers: Infinity War and, in time, we will reveal what the second film is.”

Does this “untitled” title change mean anything? Is it indicative of some kind of game changer?

Is anything to appear in front of the colon of the fourth Avengers movie? Anthony Russo answered.

“You’ll learn that, but not for quite some time.”

Some personal examples that do come to mind are Avengers: Game Changer or Avengers: A New Beginning. Does the subtitle have a meaning to what lies ahead for the MCU and the possible absence of the Avengers?

Avengers Movies On The Backburner For Phase 4?

Considering newly introduced and some obscure characters, it would make sense for Marvel Studios to reserve creating original content and building up those other characters’ stories, according to Movie Pilot. Movie franchises like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and Spider-Man could probably use some time in the limelight with Avengers being on the back burner.

Some characters of phase three could use more focus come phase four.

Doctor Strange Ushering The MCU To The Multiverse

An interview with director Scott Derrickson revealed something pretty interesting. The multiverse. Could you imagine the idea of the MCU jumping between dimensions? Derrickson admits that “Marvel will go full weird” in his movie, according to ComicBook.

That being said, do you think this dynamic will set things up for phase four?

Can The Sorcerer Supreme Be Relied Upon?

In the 60s comics title, Strange Tales, he fought his opposition on the sly. Strange was also a neutral party in the Marvel Civil War and even though he was against the Superhuman Registration Act, he didn’t stick it out for “Team Cap.” This is concerning as he’s had a history of not involving himself in the conflict of others in the comic books.

That being said, will he leave The Avengers to fight their own battles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and could this impact the outcome?

Doctor Strange Introducing The Infinity Time Stone?

Some time ago, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained Doctor Strange and the manipulation of time “which is part of our story.” Feige goes on about Strange’s adornments such as his Cloak of Levitation and the Eye of Agamatto.

“The Cloak of Levitation [and] the Eye of Agamotto are his two signature pieces. In this film, the Eye is a very important relic that can be quite dangerous if used in the wrong hands, because it has the ability to do any number of things, the most dangerous of which is, it can sort of manipulate probabilities. Which is also another way of saying, ‘screw around with time.'”

Time manipulation is a powerful thing. Powerful enough for Thanos to covet among the other Infinity Stones. Do you think the Eye of Agamotto, if it does have the Time Stone, change things for the MCU and the characters? Would this point in time in the Marvel Cinematic timeline be likened to time manipulation that occurred in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past?

Do you think the powers of Stephen Strange and his dimensional manipulative abilities will have some impact on the Avengers and leave them with no movie beyond 2019?

Avengers: Infinity War debuts May 4, 2018, and the Doctor Strange movie is slated for November 4.
