The Truth Behind Dwayne Johnson’s Feud With Vin Diesel

Dwayne Johnson, the actor and former WWF champion, is reportedly at loggerheads with Vin Diesel, his co-star in the Fast and the Furious movie franchise.

Vin Diesel has been starring in the movie series since the first installment, while Dwayne Johnson made his debut in the franchise by landing a role in Fast 5. Soon, the two action heroes will be seen in the upcoming Fast 8, the eighth installment of the popular franchise, which recently just wrapped production.

It is rumored that two actors locked horns during the filming of Fast 5, and their quarrel is poised to turn into a big feud. According to Slash Film, Dwayne Johnson was extremely upset with Vin Diesel for delaying the filming of the movie, as the Guardians of the Galaxy star allegedly kept the entire cast waiting while he took some time off to relax in a trailer.

It is clear that the point of contention wasn’t resolved, and the two actors having been attacking each other indirectly through social media posts. Recently, the San Andreas star posted messages that seem to taunt Vin Diesel for his lack of professionalism and even at his cowardice. Later, Vin Diesel ruffled Dwayne Johnson’s feathers by posting a Facebook video, through which he disclosed that Dwayne was never the first choice for his role in Fast 5, with the original plan being to cast Tommy Lee Jones in the role. The point was made that the filmmakers ended up going with Dwayne Johnson instead, as he was the most popular choice.

Hurt by Vin Diesel’s disclosure, the Scorpion King actor posted yet another message in which he thanked all his Fast 8 co-stars — except Vin Diesel. But in yet another post, Dwayne Johnson has expressed his willingness to resolve the conflict in an amicable way.

The feud had escalated to such an extent that it had been hinted that the two action heroes were planning to resolve their issues in the wrestling ring at the upcoming WrestleMania 33, WWE’s professional wrestling competition that will begin a few days before the release of Fast 8.

The dispute between the two famous action heroes might have gotten fans excited, but when WrestleMania was mentioned, some fans wondered if the entire feud might have been invented simply to promote the upcoming Fast 8 movie.

Indeed, according to News Australia, an insider revealed that the so-called feud is nothing but a publicity stunt.

“The Rock convinced Vin to amp up the drama between them so they could turn it into a WWE match to help promote the April 2017 release of Fast 8.”

The claim is further bolstered by the fact that Dwayne Johnson is renowned for using his social media accounts to promote positivity through motivational messages. It is very unlikely that the actor, who is so particular about professionalism, would ever use the social media platform to get even with a professional nemesis.

Indeed, it appears that Dwayne Johnson is resorting to his old WWE tricks to mock and rile up his wrestling opponent during a wrestling tournament.

Although Dwayne Johnson is an established actor, his roots lie in the WWE, where he earned the nickname of The Rock. Despite breaking into mainstream cinema, The Rock still makes sporadic appearances during wrestling matches as a celebrity endorser.

Dwayne Johnson’s popularity as The Rock has made him one of the biggest box-office draws for WWE, and the wrestler has carried his legacy through to his Hollywood career, becoming one of the highest-paid actors in the world. According to another News Australia article, Forbes magazine has cited Dwayne Johnson as 2016’s highest-paid actor, earning about $64.5 million in the past year alone.

By achieving this status, Dwayne Johnson has surpassed other previous top-grossing actors like Jackie Chan, Matt Damon, Tom Cruise, and Robert Downey Jr.
