Selena Gomez’s Lupus Diagnosis Leads To Canceled Revival Tour And Drug And Rehab Rumors

Selena Gomez is currently addressing her struggles with anxiety and depression after announcing her Revival World Tour would be canceled two weeks ago. Unfortunately, her decision to take a break from her career and focus on her mental health has led to ongoing rumors of rehab and drug use.

While there have been no photos or confirmation of Selena Gomez using drugs, a recent report suggested the “We Don’t Talk Anymore” singer began spiraling out of control after her friend Christina Grimmie’s murder, which led her loved ones to force her into rehab.

“[Selena Gomez] wasn’t the same after that,” an insider told Radar Online. “She was definitely depressed — it was obvious.”

Although Selena Gomez claimed to be suffering from symptoms of Lupus, which included panic attacks, depression, and anxiety, the Radar Online report stated that she opted out of her upcoming tour dates after a desperate intervention from family members who were concerned about her allegedly escalating drug use.

According to the insider, Selena Gomez was taking a mixture of “Lunesta, Ambien, Klonopin and Xanax” after Grimmie’s shocking murder in Orlando. “Not all at once. And more ‘recreational’ than any one thing specifically,” the source added.

Radar Online went on to claim that Selena Gomez’s reported stint in rehab wasn’t her first and noted a prior visit in January 2014, when the 24-year-old reportedly entered an Arizona facility for what one insider said was Gomez’s abuse of “Xanax, Ambien, marijuana, among other substances.”

Selena Gomez announced her career hiatus last month in a statement to People Magazine.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges,” Selena Gomez said in her statement. “I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off.”

“Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues,” she added.

Prior to Selena Gomez’s statement, she and her former boyfriend, Justin Bieber, were involved in a bitter dispute on social media, which was prompted by a photo of him and his new girlfriend, Sofia Richie. After the “Cold Water” singer threatened to make his account private, Selena Gomez told him to stop posting pictures of Richie and realize that his fans loved him. In response, Bieber posted a message back to Gomez, in which he slammed her for using him for attention.

Because Selena Gomez’s tour was canceled so soon after Bieber’s diss, which was followed by a message from his account which reportedly suggested she had cheated on him with Zayn Malik, many have believed their feud was what prompted Gomez to seek help. On September 6, iTech Post claimed that there was speculation suggesting that Gomez’s issues stemmed from her dramatic encounter with Bieber and not because of her battle with Lupus.

Selena Gomez’s Revival World Tour kicked off in May in Las Vegas and was supposed to continue until the end of December.
