Did Calvin Harris Just Throw A Subtle Shade At Taylor Swift Amid Hiddleston Split In His GQ Acceptance Speech?

Calvin Harris had gone through an emotional grinder when ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift hooked up with British actor Tom Hiddleston just weeks after they broke up.

The 32-year-old actor, however, looked victorious just as The Inquisitr confirmed Tuesday that Swift and Hiddleston had officially split.

Looking sharp in a D&G suit, Harris looked like he was having the last laugh as he received the Patron Solo Artist of the Year Award at the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2016 in London on Tuesday night.

In his acceptance speech, Harris sounded as if he threw some shade at his ex-girlfriend when he said that he got through “a lot” this year.

“I’d like to dedicate this to my manager Mark Gillespie for being a fantastic man. We’ve been through a lot and discovered a lot this year,” Calvin told the audience at the Tate Modern.

Calvin recalled his humble beginnings from ten years ago during his speech.

“I feel at 32 I’m nearing the end. Just kidding.

“This week ten years ago was when I left Marks and Spencer Simply food in Clapham South where I carried out such tasks as date-rotating sandwiches and moving the salmon.”

The “Summer” hitmaker then took to Twitter to share his GQ cover as well as to thank the publication for honoring him with the award.

Swift and Hiddleston reportedly had an “amicable” split, but sources said that the “Bad Blood” singer decided to call off the relationship due to her misgivings over Hiddleston’s desire to be “so public” in their romance.

“Tom wants their relationship to be public, even asking Taylor to go to the Emmys with him, but Taylor wants to keep her private life private,” a source told Daily Mail.

“Tom’s need for their relationship to be so public so quickly makes her uncomfortable. She tried to be OK with it in the beginning but fears he is in love with the idea of her and not falling in love with her for the right reasons.”

While it’s long established that it was Swift who wanted to keep their romance private, a source said that Tom was the one who felt disillusioned about their relationship.

According to Mirror, the end came when Swift refused to join Hiddleston on the red carpet at the Emmy TV awards, where the British actor is set to appear as a Best Actor nominee for his role as Jonathan Pine in the BBC drama The Night Manager.

A source claimed that Tom felt “humiliated” that Swift refused to publicly support him at the ceremony.

“He’s done his duty so he thought it was only fair she repays the favour herself and is by his side at the Emmys,” a source told The Sun. “He’s humiliated that she’s so against it and won’t put her tradition of avoiding red carpet events with boyfriends to one side for him on his big night.”

It was different for Swift and Harris, whose 15-month romance ended on good terms. In fact, Calvin even took to Twitter to write Taylor an amicable letter about their relationship. Things between them turned sour, however, when Swift’s representative revealed that she wrote the melody and lyrics for Harris’s hit song “This Is What You Came Here For.”

“Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though,” he tweeted. “I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.”
