Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight Now Just $119 As B&N Takes Jabs At Competitors

Barnes & Noble on Sunday announced a price reduction for its popular Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight. The company is now selling the device for just $119.

In an obvious jab at Amazon’s eReader ads the company declared that the devices new pricing equals an “unbeatable value with no distracting ads.”

Designed to work in daylight and nighttime conditions the Nook Simple Touch adjusts its lighting based on environmental conditions. Barnes & Noble has also been touting the eReaders ergonomic back and soft-touch design.

According to Jamie Iannone, President of Digital Products at Barnes & Noble:

“At just $119, our high-quality, top-rated NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight is an unbeatable value for customers who are seeking an unparalleled, ad-free reading experience that goes from bed to beach, day or night. NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight is the first Reader to hit the market with built-in illumination for reading in the dark and includes a power adapter for quick and easy charging. NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight is fully stocked at Barnes & Noble stores and leading retailers and available today for customers to enjoy our best-in-class digital reading experience and robust content catalog at an unbelievable price.”

The devices new price tag comes at a time when Amazon has been drastically lowering the price on its own Kindle line.

Barnes & Noble also notes that unlike some of its main competitors the device ships with a free charger alongside one month of reading on a single charge with the light turned on (two months with GlowLight off).
