‘The Good Wife’ Spin-Off: News On Michael J. Fox, Sarah Steele, And Carrie Preston

The Good Wife‘s spin-off series will revolve around the lives of Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn. Previously, The Good Wife mainly focused on the story of Alicia Florrick, the homemaker wife of the State’s Attorney who becomes a junior litigator after her husband is implicated in a scandal.

While it has been teased by the creators of the upcoming spin-off that some of the key characters from the original show The Good Wife will be seen once again in the spin-off series, fans are eagerly waiting to see which of their favorite stars will make an appearance in the upcoming series.

Much to the delight of fans of The Good Wife, several of its key stars have expressed a desire to become associated in some way with the spin-off, with some even hinting that they have already been cast in the spin-off show. Foremost amongst these celebrities is Michael J. Fox, who originally played the role of a cunning and sometimes ruthless lawyer who suffers from a neurobiological condition.

According to MNR Daily, the Back to the Future star is very much excited to reprise his role as a character with a disability who expressed varying shades of negativity.

As a sufferer of Parkinson’s disease, Michael J. Fox has previously expressed his disappointment with the fact that characters with disabilities are often portrayed to be sentimental and the ones craving for sympathy. Through his role in The Good Wife, Fox aimed to make the audience aware that a person with a disability or terminal illness can just as easily and convincingly be portrayed as an irritating jerk in popular culture.

Despite his willingness to reteam with his former co-stars, Michael J. Fox has not yet confirmed his involvement in the upcoming project. According to MNR Daily, Michael J. Fox admitted that his first priority is to focus on the projects that he is currently working on.

“It’s hard to know what tomorrow brings. I always live day-to-day and so I take every adventure as it comes, but I don’t try to anticipate anything.”

In addition to Michael J. Fox, Sarah Steele is another key actor from The Good Wife series who may be seen making her mark yet again the spin-off show. In the original series, the actress played the role of the quirky Marissa Gold, Alicia Florrick’s personal assistant. Despite her occasional appearances in earlier episodes, the last few seasons of The Good Wife saw Sarah Steele play an increasingly major role.

In fact, the outspoken character in The Good Wife became very popular after she bluntly confronted Alicia by speaking about things that didn’t go down too well with her superior. According to Cinema Blend, Sarah Stele will be featuring in another CBS drama series, titled simply as Bull.

However, it is speculated that the versatile actress might reprise her role in the spin-off series when her stint on CBS’s Bull ends.

The announcement of The Good Wife‘s spin-off series might have raised the hopes of many actors who would love to be associated with the popular show. And it comes as no surprise that Carrie Preston is reportedly one of the most hopeful amongst them. Earlier, Carrie Preston won a Primetime Emmy Award for her ongoing guest appearances in The Good Wife in which she played the role of Elsbeth Tascioni, the brilliant but eccentric red-headed trial lawyer.

Carrie Preston’s character was so popular that when news of a Good Wife spin-off series first came to light, many fans assumed that her character would be the central figure in the upcoming series. Sadly, her hopes were dashed when it was announced that the upcoming series will be focusing more on Diane Lockhart. Despite the setback, the actress remains hopeful that she will get the opportunity to reprise her famous role in the spin-off. According to E!, Carrie Preston spoke about her desire to be featured in the upcoming The Good Wife spin-off.

“It’s the best character I’ve ever gotten to play, no offense to Arlene on True Blood, but Elsbeth was like a real gift… I would take any opportunity to go and bring her back to life again.”
