Arnold Schwarzenegger Takes The ‘Arnold Classic’ To Hong Kong, Reprises ‘Terminator’ To Tease ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

Arnold Schwarzenegger is living his passion for sports by launching the Arnold Classic Asia Multi-Sport Festival in Hong Kong, according to the South China Morning Post.

Arnold Schwarzenegger founded the sporting event in 1976 with the aim of uniting sportspersons from different parts of the world to promote sports and fitness. The event was originally meant to be a bodybuilding contest. However, it has evolved over the years and in 1989, its doors were thrown open to other sportspersons who could participate in games like martial arts, chess, rugby, and table tennis.

Hong Kong’s administration is reportedly very happy to collaborate with the Total Recall actor and his business partners as it feels that the event will motivate young children to actively participate in sports.

Earlier, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s famous sporting event was organized on various continents in the world, but never before in Asia, making this the first time that the competitions will be held in Asia, an occasion that the Last Action Hero actor is really excited about.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reportedly appreciates the tremendous potential that Asia has to offer in the field of sports, in part due to its humongous population of over 4.4 billion people. According to the South China Morning Post, the Commando star commented on the special place Asia enjoys today in the sporting arena.

“You cannot have a successful fitness promotion, bodybuilding promotion, and health promotion without including Asia.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger specifically chose Hong Kong for this year’s event as the actor admits that the region holds a special place in his heart, referring to the area as both stylish and contemporary, but also as a venue where the Terminator actor has promoted many of his earlier works. It, therefore, comes as no surprise that Arnold Schwarzenegger has selected Hong Kong to be the Asian base for promoting his multi-sport festival.

Arnold Schwarzenegger famously spent many years as a dedicated bodybuilder before broadening his horizons and venturing out into the world of acting, show business, and politics. In fact, the former Governor of California is credited as becoming the youngest Mr. Universe in 1967 when he won the coveted title.

Arnold Schwarzenegger then moved to the USA and realized his dream of becoming an actor by debuting in Conan the Barbarian in 1982.

Later, his role as a “cyborg assassin” in James Cameron’s Terminator catapulted him to success and made him a household name. In fact, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in the Terminator franchise has been immortalized and, despite his various other works and his foray into politics, many fans still identify Schwarzenegger with the fictionalized cyborg.

Recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger reincarnated himself as the cyborg in a teaser trailer to remind audiences that he will be replacing Donald Trump in the upcoming season of The New Celebrity Apprentice. According to People magazine, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s involvement in the show was previously confirmed when NBC announced that it would no longer be workling with Donald Trump, the show’s previous host when he made controversial statements during his Presidential campaign.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the new promo depicts Arnold Schwarzenegger as a “man-machine” whose body parts are pieced together by mechanical arms.

The Austrian-born actor might be well-known for playing tough characters in action movies like Predator, Total Recall, True Lies, and the Terminator franchise, however, he has also featured in comedy movies like Kindergarten Cop and Twins. Now, the actor is teaming with Taran Killam, the Saturday Night Live alumnus, to feature in Why We’re Killing Gunther, a comedy movie in which Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the role of a funny hit-man who is pursued by a group of eccentric assassins.

Like others of the actor’s comedy films, the upcoming movie will see humor mixed with plenty of action to entertain the audience. However, previous box office results suggest that comedy movies featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger have either become blockbusters or flops. Cinema Blend suggests that the upcoming film might not be a flop after all because it will be directed by Taran Killam, the comedian whose hilarious skits on Saturday Night Live have had the audiences in stitches.
