Katy Perry Wears The Craziest Costume You’ve Ever Seen [Photo]
Katy Perry has worn her share of crazy costumes, but this one takes the cake. The pop star recently attended Burning Man Festival where she showed off her new look, if only just for the weekend.
The 31-year-old has been enjoying the art festival. Perry took to Instagram to share a snapshot of herself at the Black Rock Desert in Nevada over the weekend, according to Hollywood Life. Burning Man is an annual summer festival that’s focused on art rather than music. The festival is about exploring one’s identity and appreciating art. The colorful style is even similar to her Prismatic World Tour.
And it would seem as if Perry is feeling her own sense of creative self-expression. The singer took to Instagram on Thursday, Sept. 1 to share a selfie of herself at the annual gathering. She looked unrecognizable in the getup, which included rainbow prismatic wraparound sunglasses and rainbow yarn woven into her hair. To complete her festival look, Perry wore a silver sequined tank and fuzzy face mask to keep the pesky sand out of her mouth. In the caption, Perry told her fans that she’s feeling very much “alive” at the festival.
That wasn’t the only crazy look that Perry has showed off. On Saturday, Sept. 3, Perry took to Instagram again to share another colorful and fun photo. This time around, Perry appears to be illuminated as she stands in front of a pair of lit-up rainbow-colored angel wings, according to the Daily Mail. Perry also fit in with her rainbow jumpsuit and white canvas sneakers.
She appears to be wearing the same rainbow yarn braids and had a pair of goggles on her head. According to another Daily Mail report, Perry is not the only celebrity who’s in attendance. Paris Hilton and Cara Delevingne have also been spotted at the free-spirited festival.
However, this isn’t Perry’s first time at the festival. She attended the event last year, where she was spotted wearing a series of rainbow looks, reported InStyle. Earlier this week, Perry took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of her from the 2015 Burning Man Festival, in which she’s seen wearing a silver sequin coat with neon green fur trim and a zebra print lining. The “Rise” singer is also seen wearing dark googles on her head and silver deer antlers. Not as crazy as this year’s look, but still pretty out there.
It’s safe to say that Perry is creatively inspired by Burning Man. The singer is known to wear some colorful and outrageous outfits in her music videos and performances. Perry wrapped up her Prismatic World Tour last year, but her designers recently opened up about her most outlandish stage costume – that prismatic “Firework” dress, which was designed by Todd Thomas. It was part ball gown, part jumpsuit, and a lot of color, reports PeopleStyle.
Alexis Mabille, who collaborated with Perry on her “Firework” dress, spoke to the outlet abou the process.
“She’s cool because she loves color, she’s open minded, and she’s really a show girl. She loves going far away and has very strong views. She loves fashion, she really plays the game of being a woman.”
She then explained the inspiration behind the now iconic dress, which was the roaring ’20s.
“It was this idea of the vintage fringe from the ’20s. It looked like a ray of light or a painting color of the body, red, blue, black, diamond and golden. It was the Hollywood effect mixed with modern art to give this like firework effect. I was thinking we have to create a jumpsuit, which was like an expression of the firework. With bead, but it’s very comfortable very close to the body, like second skin.”
