Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards has already hinted that she’s enjoying the songwriting and recording process for their new album. She has a good reason why. The singer may address her split from Zayn Malik last year.
Perrie Edwards’ bandmate Jesy Nelson has confirmed that the girls have been writing about their experiences with love and heartbreak on their new album. It looks like Edwards is finally ready to sing about her and Zayn Malik’s high-profile relationship and split on Little Mix’s third album, reports The Mirror. The free-spirited singer has been working in the studio alongside her bandmates.
“I think it’s always easier to write about your experiences through music because more people can relate to them anyway,” Nelson told The Sun. “It’s a lot more mature, this album. There’s a lot of things that have been said that perhaps nobody has heard yet, if you know what I mean.”
It seems like Jesy is hinting about Perrie’s relationship with Zayn. The couple was engaged until they called off their engagement in late August of 2015. Little Mix fans will definitely know what – or who – the girls will be singing about.
“I think it’s pretty obvious. I think all the songs are very relatable to the girls, and our fan base in general.”
Apart from Perrie’s breakup, Leigh-Anne Pinnock recently split from her boyfriend Jordan Kiffin, reports TheRecord.com. In the meantime, Jesy is currently engaged to Rixton star Jake Roche and Jade Thirwall is dating The Struts’ Jed Elliott.
Earlier this month, Edwards hinted that the songwriting process has been a lot “like therapy” for her, reports The Mirror. In an exclusive interview with Sugarscape.com, Edwards expressed her excitement over the new album, which she hinted is a lot like their last release, Get Weird.
“It’s very – and I know we probably said this about the last album – honest. It’s very what’s been happening in the past few months or the past year. We’ve been through a lot personally, emotionally and career-wise. Every aspect, we’ve wanted to just get off our chest and the best way to do it is with this album. That’s why we’re loving it so much. It’s like therapy.”
As for what Little Mix fans can expect on the new album, it’s going to be a lot more like Get Weird, but in a positive and mature light.
“We’re so obsessed with Get Weird that it has to be a step up. It’s another step from anything we’ve ever done before. It’s a lot more cool-sounding. It’s quite slick, but at the same time it’s kind of like Get Weird. It’s very Little Mix, that’s all you need to know. Still pop, still fun, a little bit of quirkiness; especially production-wise this time. Some of it’s quite chilled and laidback. You’re in for a treat.”
Edwards has been spotted on her very first date with actor Luke Pasqualino. Sources told The Sun that the two are taking their newfound relationship slow, but Edwards has been giving mixed signals about their relationship status in new interviews. According to HeatWorld, the 23-year-old confirmed the rumors when she was asked how their relationship is going.
“Yeah, it’s going alright, thanks,” she simply stated.
Then in an interview with The Metro, according to Sugarscape, Perrie revealed about the time she was texting a boy she “really liked,” saying, “I was messaging someone – someone I really like – and misread what he said. He said, ‘Let’s start a campaign, right?’ I went, ‘Eurgh! Champagne? It takes like poo!’ And he said, ‘No babe, campaign.'”
When asked who was the lucky boy she was texting is, and whether she still likes him, Edwards kept mum and said, “We’ll see what happens.”
Then, in an interview with The Mirror Celeb on August 21, Edwards confirmed that she was still single and looking for “a hunky man.” A week later, the blonde pop tart was seen walking arm-in-arm with one of her gorgeous backup dancers after they were seen getting cozy on stage at the V Festival.
It looks like Perrie Edwards is just enjoying playing the field as she dishes the dirt about her relationship with Zayn Malik on Little Mix’s new album.
