Michael Phelps, Fiancee Nicole, And Who Really Runs Baby Boomer’s Instagram Account

Now that the 2016 Olympics are over, Michael Phelps, fiancee Nicole Johnson, and of course, Boomer Phelps are settling into a life post-Olympics and post-professional swimming. Phelps and Johnson are happily planning their wedding, but things weren’t always so rosy between the two. Now the couple has Boomer, the breakout star of the Phelps family, who has his own Instagram account, where pictures and comments are posted weekly, but who is posting for Boomer’s Instagram? It’s obviously not infant Boomer, but does the little guy have his own staff? Well, sort of.

Sure, Michael Phelps has always been a swim star, now making his mark at three Olympic Games, but Phelps was able to get it together, and finally feel good about retirement for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. One of the changes in the training of Michael Phelps was adding in cupping to his daily physical therapy according to the Inquisitr. Phelps and other athletes at the Rio Games turned up with round spots caused by cupping which involves using cups and suction on trigger points of knots to help break them up so that muscles can heal.

The courtship of Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson seemed so perfect and sweet at the Olympics, but Johnson told Cosmo that it wasn’t always smooth sailing and that at some points, she hated Phelps, and she is sure that Phelps hated her. Nicole Johnson, a former Miss California said that she and Phelps were on and off for a time.

“There definitely were times, and I think Michael would say the same thing, where I hated him. We were at odds at times. Even when I loathed him, there were still times when I was like, ‘God, I wish I was with him’.”

Johnson says that some of the conflict with Phelps was simply bad timing. She now has confidence on looking back and saying that the split was the right thing because had she and Phelps pushed through the rough times, they likely would not be together now. She and Phelps both agree that they needed to grow up.

“Michael and I both know that had we tried to have a child and get married in the previous time we were together, it probably would not have ended pretty. We both had a lot of growing up to do. We both had a lot of learning about ourselves to do. I don’t think you can be in a good relationship unless you love yourself to the fullest, and you want to help the other person become a better person. We definitely needed that time apart to recognize that about ourselves and to appreciate one another.”

But Nicole is confident that waiting to have Boomer and get married was the right decision for Michael Phelps and herself. Bringing Boomer, now not quite four months old, and perhaps the biggest star of the 2016 Olympics who didn’t actually compete, to the Rio Olympics really launched his social media stardom. Boomer’s Instagram account, boomerphelps, has 666k followers as of this posting, and features pics of Boomer and his adventures, travels, and growth, just hanging out with his parents.

An infant with an Instagram account begs the question, who is in charge of Boomer Phelps’ Instagram account? Does Boomer have a personal assistant archiving his busy little life? The truth is that Boomer has a P.A., and his name is Michael Phelps, and this amuses Nicole Johnson, who says she is not involved in the posting on Instagram at all.

“…..I don’t think Michael or I expected it to blow up the way that it did. The day he was born, we got his name [on social media], just because we wanted to make sure we had that handle. Then we were out and Michael said, ‘Hey, I’m going to post something.’ Michael runs it — he asked me if I wanted the password to post pictures on it and I told him no because I love watching him do it. I send the pictures and Michael does the posting.”

Though Michael Phelps clearly bleeds Baltimore, and he is passing this along to Boomer, who frequently wears Ravens jerseys and Orioles t-shirts, SwimSwam says that Michael Phelps has already decided that Boomer will be attending Michigan for college, and so he will be a Wolverine.

“Boomer’s going to Michigan. Go Blue.”

It seems that University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, and USC, Nicole’s alma mater, are not even up for conversation. It seems Boomer Phelps has a life plan out in front of him, and the whole Phelps family has a lot to look forward to.
