Watch New England Patriots Vs. New York Giants Live Stream: Start Time, Preview, NFL Preseason Week 4 — Tom Brady May Play

The New England Patriots and New York Giants will square off in the NFL Week Four preseason finale for both teams on Thursday, a game that will stream live and will mark the 12th year in a row, and 15th year out of the last 16, that the Giants and Patriots have faced each other in the final preseason contest.

Of course, the Patriots and Giants have met in two Super Bowls, with the Giants pulling off stunning upsets each time — including in Super Bowl 42 when the Patriots entered the game undefeated at 18-0, only to lose to New York 17-14 — in what so far are the only two Super Bowls lost by the Patriots in the Bill Belichick/Tom Brady era, against four victories.

In the regular season, however, the Giants and Patriots have met only 10 times since the merger of the NFL with what was then the American Football League in 1970. In those 10 games, New England has won six and New York four.

But the Giants have defeated the Patriots in the regular season just once in six games since 1990.

When New England and New York resume their preseason finale rivalry on Thursday, however, the outcome of the game will be far less important than the main storyline — which involves the Patriots’ suspended quarterback Tom Brady.

Traditionally, Patriots Head Coach Belichick has avoided exposing his future Hall of Fame signal caller to injury by allowing him more than a few preseason game reps — which Brady has already received in Week Three, against the Carolina Panthers.

But forced by a court decision in the Deflategate affair to sit out the first four games of the 2016 season, prohibited from appearing in a game until October 9, Week Five of the regular season, Brady has lobbied for additional playing time in the final preseason contest — and in fact will travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey, along with probably first-week starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and rookie third-stringer Jacoby Brissett.

“It’s always up to Coach Belichick. I wish I’d play every game,” Brady said at a Tuesday press conference. “I mean, I love playing. I love playing in practice, I love playing in preseason games, regular season games, postseason games. I love thinking about football. It’s just the way it is.”
