Taylor Swift Didn’t Watch ‘VMAs’ After Hearing Kanye West Diss Plans: ‘Famous’ Feud Still Going Strong

Taylor Swift did not watch the Video Music Awards at her home because she simply wasn’t interested in seeing Kanye West taking digs at her during his six-minute speech at Madison Square Garden.

The singer, who has been feuding with Kanye over the lyrics concerning his hit song Famous, have left Taylor Swift so upset, sources say that the only reason she didn’t attend the VMAs in the first place was to avoid being anywhere near West and his wife Kim Kardashian.

Kardashian was famously held responsible for leaking video footage of Kanye and Taylor discussing the raunchy lyrics, which include, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous, I made that b***h famous.”

And while Taylor initially responded to the video leak by stressing that she only heard parts of the song, the “Shake It Off” singer simply decided to distance herself from the situation in its entirety.

Hollywood Life alleges that Taylor already knew Kanye West would use the VMAs platform to slam her again, which would’ve been great for the show if she was there, but she wanted to save herself the embarrassment, in the hopes that the drama between her and the rapper can eventually die out.

“She had the show monitored for anything that Kanye or anyone else might have to say about her, but she didn’t watch the show live,” a source revealed. “There wasn’t anything she wanted to see that she couldn’t see at a later time. If she was interested in watching she would have been there in person.”

Taylor Swift caught some moments of the VMAs days after the show aired, but she was quick to skip over any parts that included Kim Kardashian and her husband.

Yahoo adds that when Kanye came out to present his “Fade” music video, his six-minute speech included the following, “Last week it was 22 people murdered in Chicago. People come to me like…take Taylor. Like, bro, I love all y’all (artists). That’s why I called her.” While the “Yeezus” rapper didn’t focus a lot of his time on the topic, simply bringing the “Famous” controversy back up was exactly why Swift didn’t want to show up for the award ceremony.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that Taylor Swift’s team have confirmed that the singer will not be releasing any new music material this year, which some insiders stress is all down to the Kanye West drama.

Taylor’s label fears that the scandal she has found herself in could drastically affect the sales for any song she might have wanted to put out this year. With that said, however, Swift is said to have already started working on her follow-up to 2014’s 1989, which has become one of her best-selling albums worldwide.

The direction for the record is definitely going to focus its attention on the breakup with Calvin Harris, Swift’s celebrity feuds with the likes of Katy Perry — similar to “Bad Blood,” and a not-so-subtle response to Kanye West. But the timing has to be right, so what’s currently planned for Taylor Swift’s new album is a release date for late 2017.

Are you excited to hear what the 26-year-old is working on? And do you think it was smart of her not to attend the VMAs this year?
