‘Attack on Titan’ Game Will Have A Lot More Gameplay And Bonuses That Extend The Story Into ‘AoT’ Season 2

The upcoming Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom game promises to take fans of the manga/anime on a very exciting and hyper-realistic ride through one of the last settlements on Earth, while fighting gargantuan monsters. However, apart from the immersive gameplay, players will also be treated to exclusive storyline, content, and in-game bonuses that the anime and manga haven’t covered.

Despite airing for just a single season, Attack on Titan has become an immensely popular anime. While the series has a lot of catching up to do with the manga, considering the anime/manga has garnered a substantial fan following not just in Japan, but all over the world, Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force decided to build a hyper-realistic console game that is about to make stateside debut today. While the anime has introduced almost all the members of the elite Survey Corps or Scout Regiment, the game will bring in some new enemies in the form of new Titans with surprisingly agile bodies and even intelligence that’s reflected in the dynamic gameplay.

The main game is set during the crucial Battle of Trost and is said to focus mainly on the exploits of Mikasa. However, players will able to battle against specific Titans including the powerful “Armored Titan” that can withstand a lot of attacks and fight back like a skilled warrior, and the big, hairy King Kong inspired “Beast Titan” in extra missions within the game. Incidentally, these missions will offer hours of engagement besides the primary gameplay. In between the rather violent and gory battles with the Titans, players can have realistic conversations and exploratory missions in the Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom game.

There are multiple “Side Activities” to perform when taking a break from the multiple battles. However, players are advised to pay a visit to the “Training Ground,” where they can continue to improve their skills. Because the game allows players to play multiple characters, the Barracks and the Training Grounds can prove critical to understand and fine tune the skills that are particular to the character they are playing. Multiple tutorials allow players to perfect the weapons, attacks and maneuvering skills.

Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom has elite fighters from four primary units meant for protection, advanced combat and assault. Members of these teams with special skills, including the Cadet Corps, Scout Regiment, Military Police Regiment, and Garrison Regiment, will fight with their unique styles. Hence, players will have to carefully select from a wide range of characters, which have their own unique personality and personal reasoning for fighting the particular battle.

Interestingly, the game also allows players to fight the elite squadron as Titans. As hinted at in the numerous trailers, the Titans available are Colossal Titan, Armored Titan, Beast Titan, Female Titan, and others, who devoured the fighters like Eren, Lisa, Mina, Thomas, Eren’s mother Carla. As for the locations, the battles take place at varied places in the walled city. Interestingly, the battles do not take place in crowded places. Instead, you can take on the mighty beasts with varied powers in the Stohess District, Abandoned Town, Farming Settlement, Plains, Forest of Giant Trees, and Supply Base.

Pre-orders of the Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom game give players access to a few extra set of costumes their fighters can wear. The costumes, meant for Eren and Levi and a festival costume for Mikasa, and “cleaning weapons” are available as downloadable content. Digital downloads of the game will also include Attack on Titan avatars.

Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom was launched way back in February in Japan. It hit Europe and online gaming platform Steam on August 26, and will arrive in the United States today.
