Amber Rose Gets A Shout-Out From Kanye At VMAs And Kim Kardashian Is Cool With It Because She’s A G

Amber Rose got some air time at the 2016 Video Music Awards, courtesy of her former boyfriend Kanye West. The model and TV personality got a shout-out from Kanye during his surprisingly short intro speech for his new video, “Fade.”

The rapper called out Rose, whom he dated for two years starting in 2009 while talking about his controversial video for his song “Famous.” The video features nude lookalikes of Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape partner Ray J, as well as Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, and more celebrities all in bed together.

“You know, just to put… the audacity to put Anna Wintour right next to Donald Trump,” West said of his own genius.

“I mean, like, I put Ray J in it, bro. This is fame, bro! Like, I see you, Amber. My wife is a G. Not a lot of peoples’ wives would let them say that right there.”

MTV’s cameras did an extended shot to Rose, who appeared to smirk and shrug off Kanye’s call out. You can see Kanye’s entire speech in the video below.

West raised eyebrows when he included nude figures of Amber Rose and Ray J and even his former father-in-law, Caitlyn Jenner, in his video, but his wife apparently had no problem with the buzzy video or her husband’s shout in Amber’s direction. But, of course, Kim hasn’t always been cool with her man’s past relationship with Amber. According to Us Weekly, Kanye once revealed to The Breakfast Club that his wife had a hard time accepting his past with the former stripper.

“It’s very hard for a woman to want to be with someone that’s with Amber Rose…. I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim.”

Despite the back and forth drama — in addition to her volatile split from West, the rapper and Amber’s other ex, Wiz Khalifa, went at it on Twitter earlier this year — Amber Rose defended Kim over a nude selfie she posted just a few months after she gave birth to her second child, Saint.

In an interview with Nightline, Rose said she thought the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star looked beautiful in the controversial photo.

“I thought she looked beautiful,” Rose told Nightline of her ex’s wife.

“I’m a mom. I know how hard it is to, like, work out and try to get your body back but at the same time, embracing the fact that your body does change after you have a baby. After carrying a baby, I just think it’s really cool and I’ve seen that she’s been getting a lot of [flack] for it and I didn’t think it was fair.”

While Amber is not exactly besties with Kanye, she told Nightline she is on good terms with his wife.

“People think me and Kim are arch enemies and we’re not,” Amber told Nightline. “We literally text each other all the time. We’re very, like, positive towards each other.”

As for that “Famous” video, Amber Rose has been vocal about her own fame, which some say only came due to her relationship with West.

“The misconception – and I still hear this seven years later, to this day – is, ‘You’re only famous for Kanye,'” Rose told the Daily Beast in June.

“Initially, absolutely. In 2009, when they’re like, ‘Amber Rose – Kanye’s girlfriend,’ I was like, ‘OK, that’s pretty accurate. That’s what it is.’ But I didn’t ask to be famous, and I didn’t even talk or do interviews for two years, because I thought, ‘I don’t want this. I’m not famous.’ Over time, with going out in public, I realized it would never go away, so I didn’t have any choice but to progress. Everything I’ve done since then is my own doing, and I’ve worked my f**king a** off for everything I have.”

Indeed, these days, Amber Rose is a big enough star in her own right to nab a spot on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Rose will be paired with returning Mirrorball champ Maksim Chmerkovskiy for the 23rd edition of the celebrity ballroom competition. But, yeah, Kim did it first.
