‘The Vampire Diaries’ Fans Launch Campaign To Get Nina Dobrev Back For Season 8

The Vampire Diaries fans have launched a campaign to get Nina Dobrev back on Season 8 of the CW show.

A number of The Vampire Diaries‘ most dedicated followers recently took to Twitter to campaign to get Nina back on the drama one last time, urging Dobrev and those behind the scenes of the drama to bring Elena Gilbert for the upcoming final season.

Nina’s fans used the 140-character site to make sure CW executives know they’re ready for the actress to return, revealing the multiple reasons they want to see the star back by tweeting out “We Need Nina In TVD.”

The Vampire Diaries fans made some serious noise on the social media site, revealing exactly why they want Dobrev — who appeared on the show for six seasons before leaving last year — back when the vampire series airs its final ever episode in 2017.

“It’s the last season. The least you could do is give us some Delena scenes one last time. We Need Nina In TVD” @careposey tweeted out, while Dobrev fan @_LightToMyDark wrote, “We Need Nina in TVD because Elena will always be the center of this group” alongside a photo of the original cast.

“We Need Nina In TVD because we want to see happy damon and elena @julieplec @kevwilliamson @TVDWriters @ninadobrev” The Vampire Diaries fan @SaritaCastro17 added, and @50Shades0fDE added, “The show started with Elena Gilbert so it should end with Elena Gilbert. We Need Nina In TVD.”

Rumors have swirled for months that Nina Dobrev has plans to return to the vampire series one final time, though The Vampire Diaries executives have not yet officially confirmed if Dobrev, who rose to fame playing Elena Gilbert, will actually be back.

However, the CW president Mark Pedowitz did recently speak out about Nina’s potential return to The Vampire Diaries, where he admitted that Dobrev would “hopefully” be back one last time and also confirmed that the show’s executives were currently in talks with the actress.

“There are discussions going on with Nina,” Pedowitz admitted earlier this year during Fox’s 2016 TCA Summer Press Tour when asked about her The Vampire Diaries potential season 8 return according to E! News. “These are discussions that go on, hopefully she’ll be back.”

The CW president also took the opportunity to gush over the former The Vampires Diaries star.

“[Nina] was a great spokesperson for The CW and for The Vampire Diaries,” Pedowitz continued when asked if Dobrev would reprise her former role as Elena Gilbert in Season 8. “I always like to have Nina. Who doesn’t like to have Nina on the show? She was a great person to have.”

Showrunner Julie Plec has also spoken out about the potential of The Vampire Diaries welcoming back the actress one last time, even confirming shortly after Dobrev made the decision to leave the drama last year that the two made a pact to have her back for the very last episode.

Speaking out to TV Line back in May, prior to the confirmation that Season 8 would be the vampire drama’s last, Plec confessed that Nina has actually expressed an interest in returning to the series for the finale.

“It’s what she and I kind of agreed on when she decided to move on, and it’s what I’ve got in my head,” Julie said at the time. “I’m sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end.”

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is set to premiere on October 21 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
