Are Descendants of the Sun stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo planning a secret wedding?

The couple, who have found themselves at the very pinnacle of international stardom after their splendid work in the Korean war drama, are rumored to have been dating each other since the early days of the show, according to IBT. But a widely held belief among fans of the blockbuster show is that both Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are keeping the relationship under wraps because of the media buzz it would generate, which, they fear, might impede their future work.

Even so, despite their best efforts not to go public, the fact of the matter is that the couple’s rising fame has meant that not only Korean media, but even international media is extensively interested in their personal lives. It could be one reason that now, after having not conceded that they are in a relationship for many months since the end of Descendants of the Sun, it might finally be time that the #SongSongcouple goes public.

In fact, several recent reports have claimed that Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo could be planning a secret wedding — away from the glare of the public eye. The couple were recently spotted in New York together — far removed from the gaze of the local paparazzi — and the reported meeting, coupled with Song Joong-ki’s recent admission that he would only date women in secret, has sparked rumors that he and Song Hye-kyo could be planning something big soon.

“I do not wear hats when I go on dates to make people not suspicious and they will think we are just friends. We also don’t visit the city, we rather date in remote areas where there are elders,” he had said during an interview on SBS’ One Night in TV Entertainment.

Moreover, it also appears that Song Hye-kyo has lately been showering Joong-ki with gifts — another reason that many believe that something more might be going between the two than meets the eye, according to Movie News Guide. Recently, Song Hye-kyo sent an entire coffee truck, loaded with snacks and drinks and other stuff for the crew to feed on, to Song Joong-ki, who has been busy filming the historical movie, Battleship Island.

The truck was reportedly decked with a banner that read, “Cheers to Song Joong-ki and the rest of the Battleship Island crew,” reports Asia Times.

“Actress Song Hye Kyo, an angel to the bone, called Coffee Pong for actor Song Joong Ki and the staff who are working hard. Even today many staff members we sweating like it was raining. We were also excited today thanks to actor Song Joong Ki who always comes over to greet us personally!”

Later, Song Joong-ki was also spotted at a Hermes store by observant fans of the Korean star. This sighting fueled further rumors that the Descendants of the Sun star was shopping for his lady love.

While the couple have themselves not commented on the relationship or the marriage rumors yet, fans expect the #SongSongcouple to be more open about their relationship when the stars meet for a reunion at the gala of Seoul International Drama Awards on September 8.

Although many years her junior, Song Joong-ki has been particularly candid about the respect he has for Song Hye-kyo in the past, and it would not be altogether naive to assume that it is perhaps out of that respect that he has decided to keep the relationship a secret.

We will only know with time if Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are planning a big announcement soon, but by all accounts, something appears to be brewing between the two Descendants of the Sun star that is impossible to ignore!
