Police Investigating Johnny Lewis Scene Aren’t Sure How The Actor Died

Los Angeles, CA – We reported earlier this morning that former Sons of Anarchy actor Johnny Lewis had died in Los Angeles after apparently beating his 81-year-old landlady to death. Police have been investigating the bizarre scene all day, and still aren’t quite certain how the actor died.

The body of 28-year-old Johnny Lewis was found in the driveway of a Los Feliz home Wednesday morning after neighbors reportedly heard a woman screaming in the home. Two neighbors allegedly intervened, only to be beaten by Lewis with a piece of wood, and the actor was later found dead from an apparent fall. The body of his landlady, 81-year-old Catherine Davis, was found inside the home.

There were no witnesses to the crime, but Lewis is the only suspect in the crime. “She was possibly beaten,” said Commander Andrew Smith, though coroners have yet to rule on the exact cause of death. Lewis had rented a room from Davis “for a short period of time,” according to authorities.

Smith said that at some point, Lewis either jumped or fell from the home’s roof, garage or patio, which likely caused his death.

“He could have fallen from any number of places or he could have tripped or fallen, or he could have jumped. We don’t know at this time,” he said.

It is also unclear whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved.

Lewis was probably best know for playing Kip “Half-Sack” Epps in the first two seasons of the hit FX show Sons of Anarchy. The show’s creator, Kurt Sutter, said that he wasn’t surprised by Lewis’ death, but called it “A tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way.” Fellow Sons actor Charlie Hunnam posted a simple “RIP Johnny Lewis” message to his Twitter page.
