Britney Spears Says ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Host James Corden Is A Cuddly ‘Teddy Bear’

Britney Spears opened up on Cubby and Carolina Bermudez, a radio program on KTU 103.5 FM about her Thursday night appearance on Carpool Karaoke. Apparently, the whole incident caught her off guard. Her comments are reported by Cosmopolitan.

“It was a little awkward, like, driving by grocery stores. People walk by and there are like 18 cameras around us. This is just so awkward.”

James Corden loves to surprise people but with the completely unique show gaining so much attention, it is hard to get that shock factor anymore. Thursday night, though, Britney Spears took the full impact. She apparently had no idea what was about to happen in the Carpool cab.

Carpool Karaoke executive producer Ben Winston was quoted in Entertainment Weekly, obviously delighted that the situation around the cab theme took Britney completely by surprise. She’s apparently not seen the show before and her reaction was just so perfect. Spears was obviously just amazed.

“I don’t think she’d actually watched it before, I’m not convinced she’d actually seen Carpool. I think she just heard that it was quite a big thing, so maybe she just got a bit of a shock.”

Is Britney Spears, yet another beautiful starlet swept off her feet by the charms of the cab driver known as Corden, despite the odd atmosphere of the Carpool Karaoke cab. He does have his way of winning the hearts of young ladies, and apparently, it worked for Britney as well.

James Corden put Britney Spears completely at ease, at least eventually. His iconic kindness made her feel at home, even in a strange Karaoke cab surrounded by cameras and a big cuddly male cab driver wearing a school girl uniform and a blond wig. Britney totally gushed about how incredibly nice Corden is.

“‘The guy was incredibly sweet. I had no idea he has kids. He’s a teddy bear. I was like, ‘I just want to hug you right now.'”

Carpool Karaoke can be an overpoweringly fun experience, and cuddly James Corden can be surprising as well as totally huggable. Spears did what any performer does when she doesn’t quite understand what is happening. She lived up to the old adage, “The show must go on.” even when one doesn’t know what is going on.

“He put a wig on for it. Yeah, I totally went along with it.”

Britney Spears only complaint was having to listen to her own songs. Of course, Corden played two familiar Spears classics. “Oops!… I did It Again” and “Baby One More Time.” Brittney says she is tired of hearing them, and no doubt she would have rather plugged her new album, Glory.

James Corden of Carpool Karaoke apparently wasn’t quite prepared to take on Britney’s ninth album, Glory, and all its sexy implications. James played it safe with Britney’s old classics which everybody knows. Well-known songs are pretty much the point of Karaoke anyway.

Unlike James Corden though, The Los Angeles Times has wasted no time in reviewing Glory. They seem to like it, not just because it is great, musically speaking, but because they can finally breathe a sigh of relief that Brittney is going to be OK. Her lyrics and music are so much more energetically positive than her last two albums, it is perhaps the most striking attribute of the new Spears music.

“Now Spears is back at 34 with an album that carries her one-of-a-kind electricity without depicting her as a victim or an avenging force; here she seems in control, a grown woman having a laugh on her own terms.”

Britney Spears has become her own woman, finally comfortable in her own skin, but she still wants a hug from Carpool Karaoke‘s James Corden, just for luck.
