Dorinda Medley On Feeling Guilty Over LuAnn De Lesseps Relationship Drama And If Bethenny Frankel Was Faking Distress

Season 8 of The Real Housewives of New York City came to an explosive end on Wednesday night, with Bethenny Frankel showing LuAnn de Lesseps definitive proof that her fiance, Tom D’Agostino, cheated on her after having just proposed to her. As LuAnn called Tom on the phone and yelled at him for what he did, Bethenny looked to be in shock and extremely upset over seeing how hurt LuAnn was. After LuAnn left the room, Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill, and Sonja Morgan found Bethenny hysterically crying over what just happened. Meanwhile, Dorinda Medley and Jules Wainstein tried to console and calm LuAnn down in another room.

What does Dorinda think of all of the drama? In an interview with Access Hollywood on Thursday, Dorinda was asked if Bethenny gave a real reaction or if she was playing it up for the show. Dorinda said that she thinks Bethenny’s reaction was a bit of both.

“She was living with this information the whole weekend so I think there was a combination of both the leading up to it, the fact that it was finally happening, and the fact that the cameras were on.”

Dorinda commented that people have accused Bethenny of acting.

“I got a real mixed response to that. Like, ‘Oh my God she’s gonna win an Academy Award, are you kidding me?’ I wasn’t there for that part. So I watched it the first time and I thought, ‘Wow.’ I’ve never seen her like act like that.”

Throughout the season, Dorinda and Bethenny have had some very tense moments with one another. In particular, there was that time early on in the season when Bethenny questioned Dorinda’s relationship with her boyfriend, John Mahdessian, resulting in Bethenny and John getting in a screaming match with one another. There was also the moment when, during the group’s stay in Dorinda’s Berkshires home, Dorinda practically had a meltdown in front of Bethenny over her and the other women’s inability to get along. Dorinda and Bethenny battled again on the season finale when Bethenny pretty much accused Dorinda of needlessly stirring up drama between her and Jules.

During her Access Hollywood interview, Dorinda Medley also talked about whether she, being the one who introduced Tom D’Agositno and LuAnn de Lesseps to one another, feels stuck in the middle and perhaps somewhat responsible. Dorinda said that she can’t take responsibility for LuAnn and Tom’s relationship drama.

“No. I just thought two single people in New York…they get together. But you know I can’t take responsibility for what happens after that.”

While LuAnn has been blasted on social media for being so desperate to be married that she’ll overlooking cheating, Dorinda was more gentle in her answer on whether LuAnn has blinders on. Dorinda said that LuAnn has opted to forgive and forget.

“I feel like LuAnn is definitely on the road to be married and she has chosen in her relationship to forgive and forget and move forward. I mean they truly love one another. I saw them like three, four weeks ago and it’s difficult but, you know, if there is that phrase in your vows, you know, ‘For better or worse,’ they’ve done it! So fingers crossed, we’re all rooting.”

As for whether she thinks Tom, with whom both Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan claim to have had a dating and/or sexual relationship with, is capable of being faithful to LuAnn from here on out, Dorinda said she’s not sure.

“I hope so. But again I don’t know Tom that super well. I mean if not, then I’ll be super sad. I can’t wait for the wedding. I can’t wait for the happy times in her life but if God forbid something negative happens, LuAnn knows I’ll stand by her again.”

On the Season 8 The Real Housewives of New York City finale episode, Bethenny Frankel finally showed LuAnn de Lesseps the smoking gun: a photo of Tom kissing another woman in a hotel bar in New York City. A distraught LuAnn threw up before she called Tom on the phone and peppered him with questions about what happened that night. LuAnn’s conversation with Tom revealed that he supposedly made out with the other woman for an hour and that he told her that he was so drunk that night that he doesn’t remember what happened. LuAnn yelled at Tom for humiliating her. After LuAnn left, Ramona, Sonja and Carole found Bethenny in bed inconsolable. As Ramona told Bethenny that she did the right thing, Bethenny sobbed.

“Oh my God I have a headache. I need to start drinking alcohol. Give me one of those bottles!” Bethenny yelled through tears.

Meanwhile, in another room, Dorinda, as well as Jules Wainstein, tried to help LuAnn. Dorinda told LuAnn that she knows Tom to be a great guy.

“Listen to me, I mean they were saying to me, ‘He’s a player, he’s a player, he’s a player.’ I didn’t know that side of Tom. I really didn’t,” Dorinda said.

“You introduced him to me!” LuAnn lashed back.

Even after LuAnn made the decision to continue her engagement and relationship with Tom, the fallout from the photo wasn’t over. Back in New York City, Dorinda told Ramona Singer that Tom and LuAnn called her on the phone trying to get her to somehow cover up for him over what happened that night.

“Last night I got a call. ‘Dorinda, it’s Lu, we’re at the Regency.’ I said, ‘What are you doing at the Regency? Are you with Tom?’ ‘Yes I’m with Tom and it’s all, now hold on,’ and she hands the phone over to Tom and Tom goes on and he goes, ‘Dorinda, listen to me. This is how it’s gonna go down. I’m gonna bring two waiters over and they’re gonna explain to the other girls…’ He wanted a meeting with me here, with the two waiters and then I, I’m gonna take a bullet for LuAnn and then bring it the rest of the girls and make it right. I said, ‘I’m not doing that,’ and he said, ‘If you’re not doing that then you’re not coming to the wedding and you’re not going to be friends with LuAnn.’ Then slammed the phone down on me.”

In a confessional interview, Dorinda said that she refused to lie for Tom and LuAnn. She also pointed out that LuAnn and Tom seemed to forget that there’s evidence he did make out with another woman.

“I don’t care if he brings over the waiter, the bartender, the President of the United States, I’m not going to represent them, lie for them, be part of this. I’m out!”

Later on in the episode, during Bethenny’s pinata party, LuAnn acted as if she never tried to convince Dorinda to lie on her and Tom’s behalf. Yet, LuAnn made herself quite clear when she said that she was happy with Tom, that she wasn’t going to let a “stupid kiss” end their relationship, and that she didn’t want Bethenny talking about her relationship ever again.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, LuAnn admitted last week that Bethenny’s revelation about Tom left her “devastated” and “blindsided.”

On Twitter prior to the finale airing, LuAnn declared that she and Tom truly love one another and are stronger than ever.

In her blog and social media posts so far, LuAnn hasn’t addressed Dorinda’s claim that she and Tom tried to get her to somehow lie for him. While Dorinda, who has yet to put up a blog post for the finale, usually live-tweets the episodes, she explained that she wasn’t going to for the finale because she was at a viewing party.

Perhaps viewers will see host Andy Cohen ask Dorinda Medley and LuAnn de Lesseps about the cover-up accusation at the upcoming The Real Housewives of New York City Season 8 reunion show? One thing’s for sure: Viewers will definitely see Bethenny Frankel and LuAnn at odds with one another. The preview shows Bethenny yelling at LuAnn that she’ll die a liar.

“You were born a liar and you will die a liar.”
