New Trailer For ‘Blair Witch’ Is Absolutely Terrifying And Will Keep You Out Of The Woods For Life

About a month ago, a movie called The Woods actually ended up being the rebirth of a horror franchise that took the world by storm in the late ’90s. When it was revealed that the film was actually Blair Witch, fans jumped onto the project (no pun intended) and were ready to see what was in store for them. The first trailer was very good at getting things rolling, but this second trailer will make you absolutely scared to death to go anywhere near the trees.

Gizmodo reported that the new trailer came out and it is causing fans to get more excited with each and every passing, horrifying moment. There is not going to be a lot of new information learned about the film in this trailer, but there doesn’t need to be.

Being out in the woods and having some unknown force torment you while camping is one thing. Being forced into a hole and then crawling underground through mud and muck while something creeps up on you from behind is something entirely different.

This is a trailer that is truly not for those that are faint of heart.

So, who’s ready to head out into the woods and do a little one-on-one with nature?

One of the things that made the original The Blair Witch Project so scary is the way it was done. At the time, there was not a whole lot of viral marketing done and it really brought forth a new method of promotion that was unique and well done.

Throw the creative filming technique on top of it and the film took off into another galaxy with its cult following and great box office take. Then, the sequel, called Blair Witch: Book of Shadows, came out and ruined all the momentum and forced the franchise into a very long hiatus.

Blair Witch is set for release on September 16 and it will be early for the Halloween season, but just getting into the thick of things. Maybe this will give it some staying power at the box office and have it actually build momentum as October rolls around and fans are clamoring for horror movies.

If the trailers are any indication of what is to come, Blair Witch is going back to its roots by going back into the woods. It’s nice to know that studios and filmmakers are paying attention to what works and what doesn’t and making the circle back to success.

Here is the official synopsis for Blair Witch.

“A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first, the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.”

Lionsgate obviously thought that this franchise still had life left in it and by the looks of the trailers, they appear to be onto something. Blair Witch has much more of the feeling of the original project and nothing of Book of Shadows, which is a very good thing. So far, the film has the frightening and terrifying nature that The Blair Witch Project brought forth and it could very well breathe new life into this franchise and have it prosper once again.

But for the love of everything, stay out of the woods and put the camera down.
