Hillary Clinton’s Reprimand Causes Epic EpiPen Stock Drop?

Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton voiced her opinion about the recent EpiPen hike. Is it coincidence Mylan’s stock immediately fell after that?

Currently, EpiPen prices are utterly disgusting — the distasteful equivalent to “bologna and orange juice.” Just horrible.

Hillary Clinton understands the necessity of EpiPens and is mortified for the country, regarding the CEO’s decision.

Via Twitter, Clinton blasted the EpiPen maker with a serious reprimand.

“EpiPens can be the difference between life and death,” mentions Hillary. “There’s no justification for these price hikes.”

CNBC reports that Mylan’s stock shares plunged five percent. And, almost immediately after Clinton’s tweet, it fell more than 2.5 percent between the hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST on August 24 — just shortly after Hillary’s statement.

You think that was all Clinton had to say?

Don’t kid yourself.

Hillary wrote an entire post about the EpiPen maker via Facebook.

“Millions of Americans with severe allergies rely on their EpiPens. When an allergic reaction leads to anaphylactic shock, a shot of epinephrine can literally be the difference between life and death. But now, just as parents are about to send kids with severe food and insect allergies back to school, the EpiPen’s manufacturer is hiking its price to an all-time high.”

Hillary Clinton’s strategy was precise.

While the topic is serious, Clinton targeted the emotional hearts of parents who deal with anaphylactic issues regarding their children.

As Hillary notes, millions of Americans suffer from allergic attacks and need this EpiPen as immediate treatment.

Clinton’s Facebook post emphasizes that Mylan Pharmaceuticals has gauged its prices over the last several years. And, now, a two-set EpiPen package is hiked by 400 percent.

Essentially, Hillary says it presently costs $600. Moreover, it’s mandatory the EpiPens are replaced every 12 to 18 months.

“This both increases out-of-pocket costs for families and first responders, and contributes to higher premiums for all Americans and their employers,” mentions Clinton.

Still, that’s not all Hillary had on her mind regarding the EpiPen situation.

Hillary Clinton’s Plan

Surely, most Americans would agree with Hillary Clinton that EpiPen prices are now “outrageous.”

As far as modern medicine is concerned, the United States could very well lead the way — if corporate greed wasn’t the engine keeping its innovation moving.

“It’s wrong when drug companies put profits ahead of patients, raising prices without justifying the value behind them,” expresses Hillary.

And to help elaborate her cause in the EpiPen fight, Clinton has come up with a plan to stop excessive profiteering from pharmaceutical companies like Mylan.

Via her campaign website, Hillary Clinton has laid it out in full detail.

To Sidetrack For A Moment

Does Donald Trump have a plan for it?

Has he even uttered a word about the EpiPen hike?

Short and long answer? No.

Instead, Hillary Clinton’s rival is spewing out rhetoric like the following tweet.

He says stuff like this but continues to post racially insensitive nonsense like the following tweet.

Half-based propaganda is Trump’s aim.

If he’s trying to “make America great again,” how is it that he’s missing this all-important topic?

How is it that Hillary Clinton has written out a full plan to combat this EpiPen situation, and Trump hasn’t even tweeted about it?

Would it be surprising if Mylan Pharmaceuticals is one of his campaign supporters?

Fellow reader, if you were running for the presidency, is this an issue to which you’d remain quiet?

Yet, let’s digress.

No To Monopolies, Yes To Competition

Essentially, that’s the issue Hillary Clinton addresses. The EpiPen maker can set the price at “whatever” because there’s no competition.

Aside from moral fiber and plain ole “humanity,” there’s no business incentive for the company to keep EpiPen prices low, according to supply and demand.

This is what happens when the demand is far greater than the supply. Honestly, though, this EpiPen company has taken it to the extreme.

This “extreme” is what Hillary Clinton proposes to eliminate via her plan.

“As part of my plan, I’ve made clear that pharmaceutical manufacturers should be required to explain significant price increases, and prove that any additional costs are linked to additional patient benefits and better value. Since there is no apparent justification in this case, I am calling on Mylan to immediately reduce the price of EpiPens.”

“In addition, when it comes to treatments like delivering epinephrine that have been available for decades, my plan encourages the production of alternative products,” Hillary Clinton continues via Facebook. “That’s how we can harness the power of competition to keep drug prices at a level that all Americans can afford.”
