Breast Cancer Awareness Month will run throughout October, and a number of landmark buildings around the world will be turning pink in recognition of the month.
The Empire State Building is one of the big-name structures that will go pink from October 14 to October 16. Other landmarks set to change their color include the Montparnasse Tower in Paris and Mexico City’s Angel of Independence.
But turning famous architecture pink is only one of the methods planned to raise breast cancer awareness. The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer will take place in both New York City and Charlotte as well as dozens of other locations across the globe.
Estee Lauder will sell its Pink Ribbon Collection of jeweled pins, lipsticks, and makeup cases throughout the month, and the cosmetics giant has already pledged a $500,000 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
You can expect plenty of celebrity endorsement as well. Jennifer Aniston has designed a T-shirt (pictured below) to help spread the message about breast cancer prevention, and numerous musicians (including Bananarama and Hard Rock) will play gigs and shows across the US and beyond. Several fashion shows dedicated to the cause are also scheduled to take place.
Hard Rock Cafes and Hotels will launch Pinktober, the 13th annual Hard Rock campaign for breast cancer awareness, and, throughout October, you’ll be able to purchase a range of pink Hard Rock products online including key chains, T-shirts, and pins. The hotels will donate 25 percent of their room rates to charity.
A great effort all round! Do you have any plans for Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
