Patrick Stewart May Be Coming Back For Upcoming ‘X-Men’ Sequel

Patrick Stewart, known the world over as both Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Professor X, revealed that there’s a very strong possibility that he could return in the upcoming X-Men sequel, according to Cinema Blend. Alternatively, he could just be messing with our heads. When you’re dealing with actors who are assaulted with inane questions regarding every rumor under the sun, you have to expect them to mess with you a bit.

Newsarama reports that Patrick Stewart’s appearance at the Montreal Comic Convention included the inevitable question about his continued involvement in the X-Men franchise. When asked if he would be reprising his role as Professor X anytime soon, the actor gave a very cryptic answer.

“I think there is every possibility,” he said. After throwing out some names of his female co-stars including Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, and Rebecca Romijn, Patrick Stewart started to say he would be reprising his role when he was cut off by his son Daniel. Nothing like being upstaged by your own son.

The X-Men movie in question is director Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which builds upon the filmmaker’s previous installment X-Men: First Class. The project reassembles the talents from Vaughn’s 2011 hit including current box office darling Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy. How two versions of Professor X will co-exist in the same motion picture remains to be seen.

While we’re waiting for more Patrick Stewart-related information regarding his role in X-Men: Days of Future Past to bubble to the surface, fans can look forward to his appearance in Max Payne director John Moore’s A Good Day To Die Hard with Bruce Willis. Although IMDb presently has his involvement in the Die Hard sequel as rumored, the idea of seeing Patrick Stewart lock horns with John McClane is kind of exciting.

Do you think Patrick Stewart should return for the upcoming X-Men sequel?
