Should Google Ban Or Censor Hillary Clinton Health And Conspiracy Theories Search Results? Latest News Reports Say Yes

Should Google ban or censor Hillary Clinton health-related reports and conspiracy theories from their search engine? Is it right for Google to hand-pick the latest news topics and trends based upon political positions from the left over the right? Is this how a democracy works? Should Google make certain Hillary Clinton becomes president by squashing negative stories and showing favoritism to positive ones? According to some, they should.

The conspiracy theories surrounding Hillary Clinton and her husband, Bill, go back to the ’90s. Although Bill Clinton admitted under oath he had a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky, the conspiracy theories and scandals involve much more than midnight trysts with interns. If you research newspapers, and not just Google, you’ll find conspiracy theories alleging Bill and Hillary Clinton were involved in everything from alleged money laundering to murder.

According to conspiracy theories, any time someone was close to exposing the Clintons they either changed their mind and committed suicide or met an untimely, sudden death. Now that Wikileaks has exposed the scandal behind the DNC and Hillary Clinton isn’t facing punishment for using her private email to handle top-secret documents, the focus is on her health. Is Hillary Clinton too ill to be president?

Donald Trump and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani both spoke about Hillary Clinton’s health over the weekend. Giuliani’s comments referenced search engines and Hillary Clinton’s alleged illnesses.

“Go online and put down “Hillary Clinton illness.” Take a look at the videos for yourself.”

Not only was the remark controversial as Hillary Clinton’s campaign has repeatedly denied she is suffering from ill health, but it has prompted some to say Google should prevent people from finding conspiracy theories through their search engine.

Fahad Manjoo is a writer for the New York Times. His response as a journalist to Giuliani’s comments is troubling.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange wrote a book titled When Google Met Wikileaks. A brief description of the book found on the Wikileaks site discusses the future of the internet and Eric Schmidt’s relationship with Hillary Clinton.

“In this extract from his new book When Google Met Wikileaks, WikiLeaks’ publisher Julian Assange describes the special relationship between Google, Hillary Clinton and the State Department — and what that means for the future of the internet.”

What is most troubling is that Wikileaks is based on the belief that governments should be open and accountable to the public. Freedom of the press means that governments are to be open and held to accountability by the public. While Julian Assange is in hiding due to fears he will be extradited to the United States for punishment, American journalists are calling for Google to censor freedom of speech.

It is mind boggling that in this day and age that the American press would devolve to the point they would recommend Google censor results that deny the public from reading conspiracy theories.

This isn’t the only time it has been suggested, and many believe that Google is already censoring results. In fact, many people have switched from Google to Duck Duck Go, since Duck Duck Go doesn’t track your information online.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Google denied manipulating search results with their automatic results. People grew concerned that when they typed “Hillary Clinton cri” they wouldn’t get the automatic result for the word “crimes.”

Google explained to WSJ that it is against their policy to put a negative or offensive word as a suggestion when searching someone’s name. You can test it out for yourself. The explanation didn’t satisfy everyone. The original video continues to get comments suggesting Google is promoting Hillary Clinton while censoring negative information about her.

Many people believe Google is censoring information and don’t agree with Google’s statements. These users are switching search engines.

What do you think? Should Google ban or censor conspiracy theories or Hillary Clinton news reports alleging health issues?
