Jaden Smith's successful career just got a bit more successful. The 18-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith is co-starring in Netflix's new and highly successful series The Get Down, and like Jaden Smith himself, the streaming series is making waves. One of the most talked-about on-screen moments of the entire series involves Jaden Smith and a provocative guy-on-guy liplock. The steamy kiss between Jaden Smith and a sexy blond has tongues and keyboards wagging.
The Get Down is the musical dramatization of the rise of hip-hop music in the Bronx, produced by Baz Lurhmann. In the racy Jaden Smith same-sex kiss scene, the sexiness of the ambiance couldn't be more blatant. It involves an onstage drag queen, flashing lights, and some topless dancing. Cut to Jaden Smith, who's dancing provocatively (but hesitantly) with an attractive blonde guy. As they get down, a fellow dancer encourages the same-sex kiss.
"Kiss him!"
Gay rumors have dogged Jaden Smith for years, primarily because of his non-traditional style. In a nutshell, Jaden has had an unapologetically gender-bending style for years now. He often sports dresses and skirts and has become the first ever male face of Louis Vuitton's women's fashion line. As such, Jaden has long been thought to be a member of the LGBT community; however he's never come out and is currently in a year-long relationship with a woman, the notorious Sarah Snyder.
"With a tit literally in our faces, it's not like The Get Down's shying away from sexuality, just maybe homosexuality. Sure, they're at a gay club — note the duck walking drag queens — but where's the gay?"All of the same-sex rumors swirling around about Jaden Smith might make a less self-confident 18-year-old a little insecure or at least get a little sick of all of the attention. Not Jaden, though. Jaden seems to be loving the publicity that his ambiguous sexuality brings to his acting, music, modeling, and personal brand. Just this week, Jaden talked to Variety about fashion, his family, his confidence, his career, and his general awesomeness. As Fox News reports, Jaden Smith not only revels in his status, but he doesn't apologize for it as well, even to the haters.
"I've always been super-duper fly and super-duper different. People just start caring when they have a reason to start caring."For Jaden Smith, it's not just about living with his uniqueness, it's about embracing the things that make him different and showcasing them to the world so that others who are "different" know they're not alone. In fact, Jaden has made a bit of a name for himself as an advocate for the LGBT community, even though he's not "out" himself.
"We're here for you... If someone at your school's trying to pick on you, it doesn't matter because Jaden Smith's got your back."
"It's pronounced 'misfits.' I took the 'I' out of 'misfits' because we're a team and there is no 'I' in team, It's a place for the lost kids and everyone to go, and something for them to have."
